About The Position

The Director, U.S. Internal Communications is a senior leadership position responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing all internal communications strategies and initiatives for PMI’s U.S. Business Unit. This role ensures clear, consistent, and impactful messaging that aligns employees with organizational goals, drives engagement, and supports a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in internal communications, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio of impactful communication initiatives.
  • Proven experience in change management and crisis communication.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with communication measurement tools.
  • Ability to influence, inspire, and collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of U.S. employment practices, workplace culture, and diversity & inclusion principles.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the U.S. internal communications strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Strengthen clarity, visibility, and awareness of essential information shared across the organization.
  • Advise SMT and executive leadership on communication best practices and emerging trends.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and other key stakeholders to support and engage the organization around key business milestones, updates, and opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of internal communications professionals, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Define optimal mix internal communications channels and cadence, and create, edit, and curate compelling content for the various channels including but not limited to what we use today (i.e. intranet, email newsletters, leadership announcements, town halls, digital signage, etc.).
  • Ensure messaging is consistent, inclusive, and tailored for diverse employee groups.
  • Ensure alignment of internal messaging with external communications, executive priorities, and brand values.
  • Develop communication plans (as needed) to support organizational changes, such as restructures, mergers, and new initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership and other departments to ensure employees are informed and supported throughout transitions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal crisis communications.
  • Develop rapid response plans and coordinate timely, transparent communication during emergencies or sensitive situations.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and employee engagement, ensuring that employees are informed, inspired, and connected to the company's goals and DNA.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives through surveys, analytics, and feedback.
