About The Position

Are you a strategic, analytical leader with a strong foundation in auditing, risk, and compliance? Do you bring the independence and judgment needed to evaluate operations and influence organizational improvement? If so, we're looking for you. What You'll Do As the Director of Internal Audit , you will lead the City's internal audit function, providing independent assurance that operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. Reporting to the City Attorney and Internal Audit Committee, you will oversee audits across all City departments and City Utilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Minimum seven (7) years of internal or external audit experience
• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, internal controls, and risk assessment
• Proven leadership, analytical, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a risk-based annual audit plan
• Lead financial, compliance, and performance audits in accordance with professional standards
• Evaluate internal controls, financial integrity, and operational effectiveness
• Prepare and present audit reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations
• Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Manage and develop Internal Audit staff
• Collaborate with City leadership, departments, and external auditors
