Job Summary: The Director, Global Information & Communication Technology (ICT), will lead the development and execution of TechnoServe’s global IT strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, operational priorities, and long-term objectives. This role oversees all aspects of IT operations, including ICT strategy, project implementation and system upgrades, infrastructure, systems integration, application support, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital transformation initiatives. The Director will partner closely with senior leadership, regional offices, and country programs to deliver technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen communication, and foster innovation. The role will also champion the strategic integration of AI and other digital tools to enhance organizational effectiveness and maximize impact in the field.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with 12 years of progressive IT leadership experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record in cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud platform, AWS) , enterprise system integration, and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation projects and integrating AI/automation into organizational workflows.
  • Strong understanding of global data privacy regulations (GDPR, etc.) and data management best practices.
  • Exceptional communicator capable of translating technical complexity into clear business value for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including fluency in English.
  • Travel up to 15%

  • Experience in IT strategy development, systems integration, and cybersecurity in international development or nonprofit organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive ICT strategy that scales with our global operations and aligns directly with TechnoServe’s mission.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a small but diverse, global team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Manage the IT budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize impact and ROI.
  • Ensure that the IT team is keeping current with emerging technologies, including AI and identifying opportunities to optimize operations and program delivery.
  • Systems, Integration & Digital Transformation Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure global IT systems and networks.
  • Guide the seamless integration of enterprise systems to improve workflows across departments and international regions.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives, specifically focusing on enhancing data analytics, reporting capabilities, and the ethical use of technology to drive decision-making.
  • Cybersecurity & Governance Lead the development and enforcement of robust cybersecurity policies, incident response plans, and comprehensive staff training.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits, ensuring strict adherence to global data protection regulations and industry best practices.
  • Establish frameworks for data accuracy, security, and ethical stewardship across the organization.
  • Operational Excellence Ensure uninterrupted access to mission-critical systems through cloud adoption, remote access solutions, and proactive infrastructure management.
  • Work closely with regional program teams to identify local technology needs and deploy tailored, effective solutions.
  • Manage key external partnerships and service providers, holding them accountable for service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
