We are currently searching for Director of the In Vivo Gene Therapy Core to lead the development and implementation of a strategic resource supporting in vivo gene therapy across the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Division of Intramural Research. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD. Lead the development and implementation of a strategic resource supporting in vivo gene therapy across the NHLBI Division of Intramural Research. Accelerate the development of novel delivery systems—including lipid nanoparticles, viral vectors, and other technologies—for treating heart, lung, blood, autoimmune, sleep and rare diseases. Provide scientific and operational leadership. Establish and refine laboratory and clinical manufacturing workflows. Oversee a multidisciplinary team of scientific and technical staff. Shape the scientific direction of the Core. Ensure quality control and operational readiness. Provide expert guidance on platform refinement. Work closely with NHLBI investigators to support early ligand screening, preclinical model evaluation, and IND-enabling studies. Managing daily operations. Collaborate with the Steering Committee to guide project intake, review feasibility, and advise on scientific direction and resource planning. Build strategic collaborations across the NIH and with academic, clinical, and industry partners.
