About The Position

Catalent is a leading global CDMO partnering with pharma and biotech innovators to accelerate development and delivery of life-changing therapies. Our FDA-licensed, state-of-the-art CGMP gene therapy campus in Harmans, MD—just minutes from BWI Airport—features EMA and FDA-approved manufacturing suites, fill/finish capabilities, labs, and warehousing to support Phase 3 through commercial production of advanced therapies, including AAV and other viral vector-based products. We are seeking a Director of Human Resources who will have full responsibility for the Maryland Gene Therapy business which is inclusive of two (2) manufacturing sites, one (1) training center and administrative office, and one (1) 3PL off-site warehouse. This position will drive strategic and tactical HR roles for the site. This includes being a full member of the Site Leadership Team and being a strategic business partner to the General Manager and the various functional leaders. This senior level position reports to the Biologics Segment Head of HR and will be leading the site HR team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years broad and progressive experience in human resources with 7+ years’ experience in management role.
  • Prior experience in site leadership position is required.
  • Proven experience as an HR leader in a manufacturing environment, ideally consumer health, food, medical devices, or pharmaceutical industry. CDMO experience highly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of labor laws and regulations and excellent understanding of HR best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong experience with change management efforts and employee engagement programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and ability to be on site 5 days a week.
  • Demonstratable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience

Responsibilities

  • HR Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement the site HR strategy aligned with the organization's objectives. Collaborate with senior management to identify and address HR needs and challenges. Provide guidance and support in workforce planning and employee retention efforts.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management. Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Talent Assessment, Management and Development: Responsible and accountable for assessment of site people leaders. Oversee the talent management process, including performance evaluations, career development, and succession planning. Collaborate with managers to identify training and development needs and identify the appropriate programs.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Partner with the compensation team to develop and administer local compensation and benefits programs. Ensure compliance with local legislation and market practices. Provide guidance on rewards and recognition initiatives.
  • Employee Engagement and Retention: Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster a positive work culture.
  • HR Operations: Oversee daily HR operations (benefits administration, HRIS management, payroll reconciliation, Talent Acquisition, headcount planning / management, etc.). Ensure accurate and timely HR data management and reporting. Deploy continuous improvement initiatives that maximize HR programs, practices, and standard value. Leverage AI and Power BI where applicable to automate / reduce administrative tasks.
