About the Role The Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a senior strategic advisor to Legal Market leadership. This role partners directly with senior and executive leaders to align people strategy with business priorities, driving performance, organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and sustainable growth. Based in Dayton, Ohio, this role operates within a collaborative HR model, working closely with specialized HR teams including Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, Talent Development, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, and HR Operations to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong business acumen, enterprise perspective, and the ability to influence across functions and levels of leadership.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years’ experience with bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Significant progressive HR experience, including senior-level HR Business Partner experience within a complex matrixed organization, COE enabled, HR organization.
  • Experience supporting commercial or market-facing businesses (legal, professional services, or technology sectors preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in: Organizational design and change management Workforce planning Talent management and succession planning Leadership coaching Performance and compensation practices
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect talent strategy to financial and operational outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, executive presence, and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Business Partnership Partner with Legal Market leaders to translate business strategy into actionable people plans. Support operating plans, growth initiatives, and organizational transformation efforts. Provide data-driven insights and workforce analytics to inform decision-making. Anticipate talent and capability needs to support long-term commercial objectives.
  • Organizational Effectiveness & Change Leadership Lead organizational design and structure initiatives to ensure alignment with strategic priorities. Guide leaders through change initiatives including restructures, growth shifts, and operating model evolution. Assess organizational health and implement solutions that enhance performance and engagement.
  • Workforce Planning & Talent Strategy Lead workforce planning to ensure the right talent and capabilities are in place to meet business goals. Partner with Talent Acquisition to forecast and fulfill hiring needs. Drive succession planning and leadership pipeline development across key roles.
  • Early Career Program Support (Legal Markets) Collaborate with Employee Experience (EX) Team to support entry-level hiring programs aligned to Legal Market talent needs. Partner with business leaders to create meaningful development pathways for early career professionals. Monitor engagement, retention, and progression of early career talent to strengthen long-term workforce sustainability.
  • Talent Management & Leadership Development Lead talent review, performance management, and development planning processes. Coach senior leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness and team performance. Partner with learning and development teams to deliver programs that build critical capabilities.
  • Engagement, Culture & Inclusion Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned with company values. Lead engagement initiatives, including employee survey action planning. Partner with leaders to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization. Ensure fair and consistent application of compensation and reward practices in partnership with Total Rewards.
