About The Position

General Position Summary: Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity’s Director for the Home Preservation program is responsible for leading the design of program policy and delivering home preservation projects in accordance with affiliate goals, strategic direction, and budgetary requirements. Core Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Provide leadership to the Home Preservation team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and alignment with GDM Habitat’s values. Ensure process and tool integration for this program with other functional areas. Program Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of program policies that align with organizational strategy, funding requirements, and goals; represent the program internally and externally; and monitor performance outcomes. Budget Management: Develop and manage program budgets in accordance with funding sources and affiliate requirements, ensuring effective oversight of the project portfolio and optimal use of resources. Project Scheduling: Develop and manage project delivery schedules to ensure timely completion, balanced project flow, and achievement of financial and impact objectives. Quality & Service Delivery: Ensure compliance with funding requirements while maintaining high standards of project quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to achieve goals and deliver results.
  • Experience managing projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders across multiple levels and backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of residential construction, including home repair practices and subcontractor management.
  • Experience with home renovation, accessibility modifications, and construction management.
  • Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction or home preservation field.
