About The Position

Under the direction of the VP and CNO, the Director supervises team members providing home care and hospice services. The Director is dual-leadership role responsible and accountable for the strategic direction, clinical oversight, and day-to-day operations of both home health and hospice service lines. The Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care while maintaining strict compliance with state and federal regulations. Develops, accesses, and evaluates policies and procedures for the care, needs, treatment, and services to ensure that standards of patient care needs and treatment are met to improve patient outcomes. Oversees the transition from clinical care to claim submission, ensuring that all services are appropriately documented, coded, and billed. Attends meetings, participates in formulating departmental policies and interprets new regulations.

Requirements

  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position and utilized by the unit, and use Electronic Health Record information tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and be self-directed.
  • Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
  • Advanced, fingerprint background checks are required for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related field required.
  • Five (5) years of related, professional work experience, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Homecare Administrator Certificate upon hire. Alternatively, candidates not currently certified must be eligible to obtain an Oklahoma Provisional Certificate at the time of hire and must successfully obtain full certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • If candidate is an RN must have a current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Oklahoma or Multistate Licensure in a Party state in compliance with primary residency rules and requirements.
  • American Heart Association BLS required; May have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain.
  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 certifications required; May have up to 90 days from day of hire or transfer to obtain.
  • A current valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates home care and hospice operations.
  • Directs home care and hospice team members in the technical performance of their daily work.
  • Develops, interprets, administers, and ensures compliance with departmental policies.
  • Mentors, coaches, and leads team members in all areas of policy compliance, Home Care and Hospice policy and protocol, Service Excellence, regulatory compliance, and accrediting standards applicable to their technical performance in their daily work.
  • Organizes and delegates work and tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Assures that team member schedules meet the needs for appropriate coverage.
  • Recruits, mentor and lead a competent multidisciplinary workforce including nurses, therapists, social workers, chaplains, and non-licensed support staff to meet volume demands maintaining patient-family centered care.
  • Evaluates performance of team members; coaches, counsels and disciplines following appropriate policy or procedure.
  • Clearly communicates performance expectations to team members, communicates met and unmet expectations, and assists team members in areas of improvement.
  • Recommends personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, firing, promotion, demotion, transfers.
  • Prepares and manages the operating budget.
  • Collaborates with providers to recommend capital budget acquisitions.
  • Supports financial targets for volume, productivity, and managing operating expenses.
  • Develops and cultivates collegial working relationships with physicians/providers, leadership team members, and community partners.
  • Develops and maintains services in accordance with regulatory, quality, and practice standards.
  • Ensure that billing practices align with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance requirements.
  • Monitor the accuracy of OASIS data to ensure appropriate reimbursement and maintain “audit-ready” status for CMS or OIG reviews.
  • Collaborate with the billing and clinical teams to reduce claim denials, manage Additional Documentation Requests (ADRs), and ensure timely filing of hospice certifications/recertifications.
  • Oversees Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs to drive superior patient outcomes and patient/family satisfaction.
  • Contributes to quality improvement by measuring, analyzing, and communicating outcomes data.
  • Provides for service line growth through innovative strategies aimed at improving patient care and reducing expenses.
  • Develop and implement community outreach and marketing strategies to expand the agency’s referral networks.
  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Participates in leadership and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Must adhere to, and promote, safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy.
  • Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
  • Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
  • Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
