About The Position

The Director of Higher Education Strategy will develop and implement a technically strategic business plan to support the company's overall strategy and increase public sector revenue. This highly collaborative, analytical, and active role involves working with senior leadership to define and execute strategies for growing business and profitability within education sales. The Director will coordinate K-12 and higher education strategist activities, attend industry events, represent SHI as a speaker and presenter, and meet with customers to foster strategic opportunities. The primary goal is to assess, develop, and maintain public sector business in higher education, enhancing SHI's brand as a comprehensive technology solutions provider. This position also involves coordinating, gathering, and compiling complex data for stakeholders, promoting SHI to customers and officials, and leading a team of higher education leadership professionals to develop strategic insights and plans that support SHI's sales efforts across the U.S. in education. Additionally, the Director will establish criteria and processes for team engagement in sales efforts aligned with leadership's strategic directions.

  • Ability to oversee and direct projects to completion, ensuring goals are met, resources are utilized efficiently, and stakeholders are satisfied.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks, aligning with the responsibility of safeguarding the organization’s operations and reputation.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and organizational success.
  • Skilled in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Skilled in providing guidance and mentorship to teams to enhance their performance and support their professional development.
  • Extensive knowledge of an academic institution's technology environments, technology procurement trends and the overall technology marketplace available to an academic institution.
  • Completed Master's Degree in Education Leadership, Business or a related field, or relevant work experience required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working in an academic or research institution in a senior role.
  • 4+ years of experience in a management position required.
  • Ability to travel to SHI, Partner, and Customer Events.
  • Ability to travel 50%.
  • Technical experience and familiarity with education technology history, issues and marketplace.

  • Drive innovation in operational practices, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance productivity and performance.
  • Report on operational performance and strategic initiatives to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for future planning.
