About The Position

Guidehouse’s Health Technology Consulting (HTC) practice is seeking a Director to lead complex health technology programs across our Commercial Health client portfolio. The Director serves as a senior delivery leader and client advisor, responsible for program outcomes, executive relationships, team development, and business growth. This individual brings demonstrated experience leading large-scale EHR and health technology initiatives, the ability to communicate technology outcomes in terms of operational and financial impact, and the presence to build credible relationships across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Guidehouse Directors provide strategic leadership, develop industry expertise, and drive new business initiatives. In the HTC practice, that means being accountable for the full arc of program delivery while contributing to the growth and capability of the practice.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of combined experience in health IT consulting, EHR program leadership, or health system operations, with prior experience at a large multidisciplinary consulting firm strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership of large, complex health technology programs, including multi-site EHR implementations, enterprise optimization initiatives, or clinical transformation engagements with multiple concurrent workstreams
  • EHR platform fluency, with depth in Epic and working knowledge of other major platforms including Oracle Health, Meditech, or athenahealth
  • Proven experience presenting to and advising C-suite health system leaders, with the ability to frame technology outcomes in terms of operational performance, financial impact, and organizational readiness
  • Experience designing and leading change management, end-user training, and adoption programs as structured delivery components within large health technology engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, distributed teams and develop staff across a range of experience levels
  • Experience contributing to business development activity, including account expansion, proposal development, and client relationship management
  • Fluency in health system operational and financial metrics relevant to EHR program outcomes, including revenue cycle performance, workforce productivity, clinical documentation quality, and patient access and throughput
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in health informatics, business administration, public health, or a related field
  • Experience working across payer and provider client environments
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance considerations relevant to EHR implementation and optimization
  • Experience supporting or contributing to digital transformation, AI integration, or analytics strategy within health system engagements

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership and Delivery The Director will lead multi-workstream health technology programs from initiation through stabilization, including EHR implementations, post-live optimization efforts, clinical and operational transformations, and technology strategy engagements. This individual will be responsible for program governance, workstream integration, risk identification and escalation, resource coordination, and overall delivery quality. Engagements frequently span clinical, financial, and operational domains simultaneously and involve health system leadership as active stakeholders throughout. The Director is expected to structure work clearly, maintain delivery discipline across a large team, and resolve issues in a manner that keeps engagements on track and clients confident in Guidehouse’s work.
  • Executive Communication and Business Impact Translation A core expectation of this role is the ability to translate technology program outcomes into the language of health system leadership. EHR configuration decisions, workflow design choices, and implementation sequencing all carry downstream consequences for revenue integrity, clinical throughput, workforce capacity, and patient experience. The Director will communicate those connections clearly and consistently to CFOs, COOs, CMIOs, and other executive sponsors, developing findings and recommendations that inform strategic decisions rather than simply reporting on project status. Strong executive presentation skills and the ability to move fluently between technical detail and organizational strategy are required.
  • Change Management, Adoption, and Training Guidehouse’s approach to health technology delivery is grounded in the recognition that sustainable program outcomes depend on sustained organizational adoption. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that change management, training, and end-user adoption are designed and executed as core delivery components, not supplementary workstreams. This includes building adoption strategies that reflect how clinical and operational staff work in practice, designing training programs that develop durable capability within the client organization, and establishing mechanisms to measure whether change has been absorbed and embedded. The Director will bring structured methodology to this work and will hold the engagement team accountable for adoption outcomes alongside technical milestones.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Across the Spectrum of Influence This role requires the ability to build and manage effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. Internally, the Director will collaborate with Guidehouse Partners, Practice Leaders, and colleagues across the Health segment to coordinate resources, align on strategy, and bring the full capability of the firm to bear on client challenges. Externally, the Director will manage relationships ranging from frontline implementation champions to board-level executive sponsors, navigating the organizational dynamics that shape every large program. The Director will also support business development activity, including identification of new opportunities within existing accounts, contribution to proposals and pursuit strategy, and representation of Guidehouse’s capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Team Leadership and Development The Director will lead engagement teams that may span ten or more professionals, including Guidehouse consultants and client-side counterparts. This includes setting clear expectations, providing consistent and substantive performance feedback, supporting professional development, and maintaining team cohesion across complex and extended engagements. The Director is also expected to contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and capability-building within the HTC practice.
