About The Position

The Director of Project Management and Service Delivery is responsible for both strategic technology implementation and overseeing a seamless transition to ongoing service operations provided by other teams within Health IT. This position oversees the planning, execution, and completion of strategic technology initiatives by the Health IT PMO, including defining scope, managing timelines, resources, and budgets, and ensuring that projects are delivered successfully. This position will have an organization-wide impact, instrumental in ensuring that all projects adhere to best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, ultimately enhancing the quality of Health IT services and improving patient outcomes. The Director will directly manage the team of highly specialized Health IT Project Managers and Coordinators. This position is also responsible for oversight of ongoing service delivery across Health IT after projects have been completed, including providing a framework for monitoring service level agreements (SLAs) and responding to user needs to maintain the quality and reliability of services across the health system. This role will partner with other teams across IT to standardize monitoring dashboards and reporting, ensure information is readily available to Health IT leaders, and establish accountability mechanisms as part of Health IT Operations. This position is a hybrid position but is expected to be onsite at a UCSF Health location 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs). Standard hours are M-F 8-5 PST, but business need may require work during the evenings, weekends, and onsite at various locations up to 5 days per week to support go-lives. This role requires the ability to commute to our San Francisco, CA offices for onsite work. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $129,600 - $303,800 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Typically 6-10 years of experience managing an information technology organization.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
  • Requires advanced communication, organization, management and project management skills. Exhibits careful thought in how s/he approaches planning and execution tasks.
  • Mastery of best practices in project management discipline required.
  • Has an understanding of how programs relate to other business strategies and initiatives.
  • Extensive or advanced knowledge of subject area sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction.
  • Extensive experience managing technical staff.
  • Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple units or departments.
  • Experience in the management of ongoing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of suitable emerging technologies.
  • Possesses advanced written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Is able to establish priorities, goals / objectives and timelines. Incumbent will have direct major project oversight experience of successively larger engagements, including direct oversight of an install team
  • Demonstrates ability to delegate and oversee assignments to ensure successful and timely completion as well as to obtain the cooperation of others within and outside the unit. Works in a collaborative manner to achieve results. Ability to appropriately balance delegation with hands on management, when needed.
  • Requires conceptual and planning expertise. Has technical project management knowledge of several areas of specialty.
  • Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within a large and complex technical environment. Demonstrated problem-solving ability to address issues that come up during major projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to large groups with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication. Ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels in the organization

  • General knowledge and ability to problem solve issues related to key technical components of an install (database, hardware/infrastructure, environments, QA, analytics, integration and data conversion)

  • Experience aligning projects to governance groups is a programmatic way, facilitating execution of the strategic priorties of the organization related to technology investment with a data-driven mindset.
