About The Position

1. Strategic Leadership & Planning Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the facility, aligning services and initiatives with TAMUV’s institutional mission and student success goals Continuously evaluate and refine strategies based on emerging health trends, evidence-based practices, and student feedback. Collaborate with university leadership to establish short- and long-term objectives, performance metrics, and growth opportunities. 2. Program Development & Service Delivery Oversee the creation, delivery, and assessment of wellness programs, healthcare services, mental health resources, and recreational activities that address the diverse needs of TAMUV’s student population. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating physical health, mental well-being, nutrition, and preventive education. Ensure equitable access to all services and proactively reach underserved populations. 3. Financial Oversight & Resource Management Work with university finance teams to develop and manage the facility’s budget, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Identify external funding opportunities, including grants, partnerships, and sponsorships. Make data-driven decisions to maintain cost-effective operations and sustainable growth 4. Compliance, Policy, & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, accreditation standards, confidentiality requirements (e.g., HIPAA), and university policies. Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to promote safety, reduce liability, and maintain the highest standards of quality in health and wellness services. Regularly review and update policies to reflect current best practices and regulatory changes. 5. Staff Leadership & Development Recruit, hire, and onboard a qualified, diverse team of healthcare professionals, wellness instructors, administrators, and support staff. Provide ongoing staff development opportunities, performance evaluations, and coaching to foster a cohesive and skilled workforce. Cultivate a positive organizational culture that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth. 6. Community & Campus Engagement Serve as a liaison between the facility and the broader university community, building strong relationships with student organizations, academic departments, athletics, and residence life. Establish and maintain partnerships with external healthcare providers, local nonprofits, and community groups to broaden access to wellness resources and events. Represent the facility at campus-wide meetings, community forums, and professional conferences. 7. Assessment & Continuous Improvement Implement robust evaluation and assessment frameworks, leveraging qualitative and quantitative data to measure program effectiveness, student satisfaction, and health outcomes. Use data insights to drive strategic enhancements, introduce new services, and improve operational efficiency. Regularly report on key performance indicators, outcomes, and impact to university leadership.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in health administration, Public Health, Healthcare Management, Exercise Science, Counseling, or a related field is required, doctoral degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in a health, wellness, or student services setting, ideally within higher education.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, developing strategic plans, and overseeing complex operations.
  • Strong knowledge of current health and wellness trends, preventive education strategies, and evidence-based practices in higher education settings.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire staff and engage a diverse student population.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, resource allocation, grant-writing, and financial management.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory frameworks relevant to health and wellness facilities (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA).
  • Strong analytical skills and capacity to use data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
