The Health and Wellness Director is responsible for leading the health and wellness programs and managing daily wellness operations in multiple locations. Responsibilities include but are not limited todelivering personal training and fitness instruction; selecting, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff; developing and managing department budget; developing cooperative partnerships; and creating new programs to meet community needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA. Develops and controls department budgets related to the position. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies. Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff. Coordinates special events and activities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs. Creates and schedules wellness classes and coaches schedules. Demonstrates a general comprehensive knowledge of health and fitness and its relationship to the human body. Models healthy lifestyle behavior inside and outside of the facility. Greets members with a smile and by name while making a consistent effort to develop relationships with members. Trains staff in proper use and care of strength equipment and cardiovascular equipment, Leads by example. Employs Listen First skills and spirit when interacting with members and staff. Trains staff in fitness knowledge including effective exercise technique, modifying and correcting exercises or positions when needed, and encouraging progression. Assists prospective members with facility tours and provide clear and concise information on programs and membership as needed to support membership department. Enforces YMCA rules and policies in a polite and positive manner, especially cell phone usage and dress code. Attends staff meetings and training sessions as an expectation of employment. Demonstrates a strong commitment to the Christian mission of the YMCA and its values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
