Directs, plans, and organizes the staff and operations engaged in organization pre-award sponsored program activities. Supports research leadership regarding the identification of annual system priorities for grants and contracts. Job Responsibility Leads a Grants Management group by communication with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area. Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility. Directs operation and management of pre-award and research development activities for the organization. Negotiates agreements with federal, state, corporate, and foundation sponsors on behalf of the organization. Partners with Finance to ensure smooth transitions from pre-award to post-award and post-award to close-out. Participates in transition from paper to electronic pre- and post-award administration Develops and reports metrics for pre-award activities for the organization. Serves as liaison to center heads and departments to ensure positive service orientation for the office. Develops appropriate internal and external training for and organization employees. Aligns research and non-research efforts with organization priorities. Serves as pre-award liaison and partner to the organization foundation. Performs related duties as required.
