About The Position

The Director of Government Accounting will lead a high-performing team responsible for managing all aspects of government contract accounting and compliance. This role provides strategic guidance and technical expertise in Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), FAR/DFARS regulations, and financial reporting for multiple contract segments. You will oversee forward pricing rate proposals, provisional billing, incurred cost submissions, and audits while partnering closely with business units to ensure regulatory compliance and process efficiency. As a key liaison with government oversight agencies, you will represent accounting practices and resolve compliance issues. This is a senior leadership position with significant impact on financial accuracy, risk mitigation, and operational excellence in a dynamic, remote-capable environment.

Requirements

  • University degree with a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with at least 12 years of experience
  • Deep knowledge of CAS, FAR, DFARS, and TINA regulations
  • Proven experience interacting with government oversight agencies (DCAA, DCMA)
  • Strong expertise in government accounting deliverables including Disclosure Statements, Incurred Cost Submissions, and Forward Pricing Rates
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and manage large teams effectively
  • Experience briefing senior leadership on accounting, compliance, and financial matters
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for the Government Accounting and Controls function, overseeing ~35 team members
  • Interpret and apply CAS, FAR/DFARS, and related regulations, implementing process updates to align with policy changes
  • Develop forward pricing rate proposals, establish provisional billing rates, and monitor actual performance against negotiated rates
  • Manage Disclosure Statements, incurred cost submissions, and settlement of final rates for multiple contract segments
  • Support government audits and reviews, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Partner with business units to deliver compliant and feasible accounting solutions while advising on process improvements
  • Serve as the primary liaison with government oversight agencies and internal committees, addressing compliance issues and strategic initiatives
