Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 8+ years of Bio-Pharma industry experience with extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing and category management.
• Experience in working in a highly ambitious, fast-paced environment.
• Strong financial skills for budget management, cost analysis, and strategic decision-making in procurement.
• Exceptional negotiation skills; tenacious problem-solving focus with a propensity for building mutually beneficial relationships.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence others.
• Subject expertise with Early Discovery and Research.

Nice To Haves

• 10+ years of Bio-Pharma industry experience.
• Advanced degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Subject expertise specifically with Cell and Gene Therapy is preferred.
• Certification such as CPSM or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing and leading category strategies to support the procurement of scientific services for Early Discovery Research projects, including Translational Science, Genomic Medicine, Cell/Gene Therapy, Non-Toxicology, and other assigned category areas.
• Partnering with and advising key stakeholders on supply market dynamics and leading practices to enhance value, minimize risk, and ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Establishing a best practices Category Management and Strategic Sourcing program for categories as assigned, actively supporting the development of a global network of preferred and frequently used suppliers.
• Managing interaction with key stakeholders to establish best-in-class Sourcing Category Strategies, balancing short and long-term goals and objectives.
• Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure effective alignment that supports business requirements while managing quality, speed, cost, risk, sustainability, and ease-of-use.
• Staying abreast of market trends, benchmarks, and best practices across managed categories, leveraging this knowledge to optimize results and maintain a high standard of excellence.
• Developing and nurturing a supplier experience that positions Alexion, AstraZeneca RDU as a "customer of choice."
