Collaborate with global key stakeholders to maximize utilization and profitability of global polymer and catalyst production lines while continuously improving process safety performance. Areas of accountability include process engineering direction on major capital projects, coordination and prioritization of initiatives with business, R&D, manufacturing and global projects leadership, and leadership of polymer and catalyst global process owners. Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a petrochemical manufacturing environment.
  • A strong understanding of industry best practices in the areas of polymer process operations and optimization.
  • A through technical understanding of the company Engineering and Operational Excellence Standards and a demonstrated ability to set enterprise technical direction through their use.
  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels.
  • Supervision and multiple group coordination with excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Mentoring skills to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced engineers and managers, including the development of a successor.
  • Requires leadership skills, technical knowledge and management experience in process equipment design, fabrication, inspection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and reliability improvement.
  • Director must have strong communication skills plus the ability to manage multiple diverse issues across a large, multi-site organization.
  • This position requires the ability to lead long range planning and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • This position will require global travel and the ability to develop key relationships with global leadership as related to the global polymers assets.
  • Fluent English required, additional fluency in German and/or Italian beneficial but not a pre-requisite.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA and/or Lean Six Sigma training a plus.
  • International management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for global polymer and catalyst process engineering
  • Engage with polymer business key stakeholders, influence technical direction to ensure optimum use of our technologies and competitive advantages
  • Actively participate in polymer and catalyst technology networks to ensure networks are functioning effectively to drive performance improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement through the Value Enhancement Program by identifying, developing, and supporting execution of opportunities at existing sites
  • Benchmarking gap closure
  • Capacity creep
  • Reliability/Quality improvements
  • Differential product opportunities
  • Participate in capital long-range planning and project prioritization
  • Interface with sites on development of site asset strategies as part of Strategic Alignment Execution process
  • Provide process engineering input for growth opportunities including technology and site selection
  • Sustain effective interfaces with manufacturing leadership
  • Actively engage with site management and subject matter experts
  • Ensure process and personnel safety issues are addressed and included in technology networks scope as appropriate
  • Ensure global engineering resources are engaged when appropriate to drive performance improvements
  • Ensure global engineering and site subject matter experts have consistent and appropriate priorities
  • Coordinate front-end engineering support for emerging major projects up to $500 million in project work scope
  • Drive continuous improvements in our performance culture
  • Mentor and coach manufacturing technical managers and their engineering organizations
  • Drive data-based analysis and recommendations
  • Participate in company mentorship programs and development
  • Identify and coach future polymer technology expertise
  • Communicate career opportunities to larger engineering community
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to maximize polymer and catalyst asset utilization and profitability

  • Partner with R&D to plan and execute trials at manufacturing sites to differentiate LYB products from global competition
