About The Position

Responsible for the operation of the company’s transportation network. May oversee the acquisition of transportation providers to develop broader network. Ensures the alignment between 3rd party partners and distribution centers to fulfill customer needs. Responsible for managing all aspects of Global Logistics for ORBIS, including carrier management and managing of 3rd party transportation management relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in Supply Chain, Finance, Production/Operations Management or Business Management)
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
  • 5-10 years of experience in procurement
  • 5-10 years of experience in international, multi-site business’s utilizing all modes of transport
  • Experience in managing a global logistics system
  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of a logistics system
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in leadership, communication (internal and external), conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Business and financial acumen with strong analytic skills.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of transportation management systems.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Ability to handle stress of working with others.
  • Availability outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to assess employee performance and coach and develop others.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally to support the business, including overnight stays and extended work hours during work meetings, travel may include weekends.
  • Ability to obtain a passport.
  • Valid driver’s license required/Motor Vehicle Report Required

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the North American Logistics team.
  • Provide Strategic Global Logistics influence, development and support.
  • Assume role of International Trade Compliance Officer for ORBIS.
  • Provide leadership support to Logistics Coordinators.
  • Provide enterprise-wide leadership for all 3rd party external warehousing and distribution activities and the overall ORBIS warehousing strategy development.
  • Lead and implement the execution of ORBIS Logistics and Distribution Technology, Transportation Management System (TMS)/Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or materials.
  • Analyze and implement freight strategy across the company including, but not limited to: routings, consolidations, operational management and finished good shipments.
  • Lead freight management processes such as supplier selection, qualification / evaluation, developing SOW’s & RFP’s, contract negotiations and vendor scorecard/business reviews.
  • Manage/publish/update routing guide and rates, ensure that updates are communicated to all internal and external users.
  • Accountable for continuous improvement initiatives with regards to freight and logistics.
  • Manage carrier base including rate negotiations and dispute resolution.
  • Create and enforce freight policies.
  • Negotiate transportation rates or services, including sea, air and parcel freight quotes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
