About The Position

General Summary Qualcomm is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Global Head of EHS, to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for our global environmental, health, and safety programs. This pivotal role is responsible for formulating and executing EHS policies and strategies that ensure regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions, protect our employees, communities, and reputation, and drive a culture of safety excellence and environmental stewardship. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of implementing effective EHS management systems in a complex, global, high-tech environment. This position will also be a change agent for Qualcomm as the EHS program matures within the organization to influence line management and employee awareness, engagement, and accountability. In addition, this position will build, lead, and manage Qualcomm’s global EHS professionals. The individual will serve as the lead EHS subject matter expert on technical and regulatory aspects, EHS management systems, EHS program standards, and EHS best practices. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure ongoing compliance and risk management effectiveness. Position requires individual to be onsite in San Diego full time, 5 days a week

Requirements

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
  • Adapts to technology quickly to complete work objectives; confidently uses new techniques and/or technologies as a routine part of work assignments; has firm grasp of how to use core computer programs.
  • In depth international experience in EHS strategic and tactical leadership.
  • Experience with executive reporting.

Able to consider the best solution/outcome for Qualcomm. Responds with agility in navigating complex business and organizational dynamics.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health, safety or scientific or related engineering field.
  • 15+ years’ experience in EHS, with demonstrated experience in managing global EHS programs in a company with international operations.
  • 10+ years in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • 10+ years’ experience in accredited EHS management systems.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple and technical assignments concurrently.
  • Analytical, problem-solver, and project management experience.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining cross-functional working relationships.
  • Broad communication skills and demonstrated experience in understanding business value drivers.
  • Ability to travel, 25-30%, including international.
  • Bachelor's degree and 11+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
  • Associate's degree and 13+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 15+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in EHS related field.
  • Internationally recognized accredited safety professional certification or credential.
  • 10+ years of experience working in a large organization.
  • 10+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global EHS and other (e.g. water) policies and strategies aligned with company goals and regulations, promoting a "Safety First" culture.
  • Ensure adherence to global EHS regulations, manage risk assessments, and oversee incident investigations.
  • Lead and develop a global EHS team.
  • Act as the primary EHS liaison with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
  • Present to executive leadership on EHS matters.
  • Implement and maintain robust EHS management systems.
  • Use data and benchmarking to drive improvements in EHS performance.
  • Monitor developments, trends, emerging issues, legislation, and regulations related to EHS, and best practice trends in the industry to ensure timely and effective communication to the organization and incorporate changes/updates to EHS programs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and reporting with all current and evolving international (e.g. CSRD), national and local environmental laws, standards and regulations concerning pollution, waste, water, and health and safety management.
