About The Position

About this role What team will you be on? You’ll be part of the Global Workplace Planning team, which sits within BlackRock’s Enterprise Services organization. This team is responsible for delivering a workplace environment that is employee-centric, productive, and reflective of BlackRock’s values. Within this group, the Design & Construction (D&C) function leads the strategic planning and execution of capital projects across the firm’s global real estate portfolio. The team plays a critical role in shaping the physical workplace experience for thousands of employees worldwide. They deliver innovative, high-quality spaces that support collaboration, flexibility, and the evolving needs of the business. Why is your role important? This role is essential to driving BlackRock’s global workplace strategy and ensuring the successful delivery of capital projects that align with the firm’s growth and operational goals. As the Global Head of Design & Construction, you will lead the D&C function, overseeing projects across all regions and ensuring consistency in design, execution, and experience. Your leadership will directly impact how employees engage with their workspaces, and your strategic oversight will help optimize real estate investments. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in global design, construction, and workplace strategy leadership
  • Proven success delivering complex capital projects across multiple geographies
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large-scale budgets
  • Deep understanding of workplace design trends, sustainability, and flexible work environments
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills in a matrixed organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Power BI, AutoCAD, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Design and Construction team, who are responsible for a global portfolio of capital projects; ensuring timely, on-budget, and high-quality delivery
  • Developing and managing the global capital plan in partnership with regional and finance teams
  • Championing global design standards and workplace innovation strategies
  • Managing regional and global relationships with third-party program managers, design consultants, and contractors across regions
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to align workplace strategy with business needs
  • Overseeing governance, risk management, and performance reporting for all PD&C initiatives
  • Leading and mentoring a global team of design and construction professionals
