About The Position

Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS) seeks a distinguished, clinically grounded executive to serve as the Director, GI Services. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, operational excellence, and financial stewardship of Gastrointestinal (GI) and perioperative services across all Central New Mexico (CNM) sites. The Director will serve as a high-visibility nursing leader, bridging the gap between administrative strategy and frontline clinical practice. In a landscape of evolving regulatory requirements and complex provider dynamics, the Director will be tasked with standardizing nursing practices, enhancing the physician-led care model, and driving cost-effective, high-quality patient outcomes. This role requires a sophisticated leader who can harmonize the needs of the medical staff, the Anesthesia Division, and the broader PHS system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Nursing (BSN preferred), Business, or Hospital Administration.
  • Master’s Degree preferred (or currently enrolled with completion within 5 years).
  • State of New Mexico Nursing License required.
  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrated leadership in a management-level healthcare position.
  • Proven experience with formal process improvement methods (Lean, LSS, PDSA) to drive operational efficiency.
  • Deep understanding of perioperative standards, GI lab operations, and anesthesia coordination.
  • Strong track record in budget planning, execution, and capital allocation management.
  • Ability to partner effectively with physicians and executive leadership to align clinical needs with business objectives.
  • Experience managing multi-site operations and standardizing practices across a regional health system.

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the PMG COO to establish surgical program policies and develop performance indicators.
  • Prepare and monitor department operating and capital budgets; assist in the development of business plans to grow operational opportunities.
  • Direct labor productivity management and supply chain functions to ensure cost-effective care.
  • Serve as a nursing leader to enhance the organization’s care model and support Shared Governance.
  • Work directly with the Anesthesia Division to establish and standardize PACU and post-anesthesia nursing care standards.
  • Assure compliance with all quality, regulatory (The Joint Commission), infection control, and safety initiatives.
  • Direct all phases of personnel management, including hiring, coaching, and professional development of management-level staff.
  • Oversee the implementation of change projects and strategic initiatives across multiple surgical sites.
  • Ensure vendors are in compliance with regulatory and internal processes; support VAT champions with data for contract decisions.
  • Facilitate effective communication between administration, medical staff, patients, and the public.
  • Act as a conflict resolution expert and problem solver across the GI care path.
  • Participate in Medical Staff section meetings and organizational nursing management groups.
