About The Position

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility. What We Need We are seeking a technical leader to own the architecture, deployment, and operation of EXOL’s multi-tenant Google Cloud Platform. As Director, GCP Cloud Platform & Data Engineering you will lead a global POD of DevOps, Platform, and Data Engineers to build a secure, scalable environment that hosts both proprietary services and third-party platforms. You are accountable for how applications run in production—ensuring isolation, observability, and independent team operability. About EXOL An independently managed joint venture between Symbotic and Softbank, EXOL is pioneering warehousing-as-a-service through automated, high-efficiency movement of goods across retail and wholesale sectors.

  • Experience: Minimum 12 years in software/cloud engineering; 6+ years in a leadership role.
  • GCP Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with Terraform, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery.
  • Technical Depth: Proven track record in multi-tenant cloud architectures and shared platform operations.
  • Architectural Judgment: Ability to balance security, isolation, cost, and developer velocity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dataplex, AlloyDB, Datastream (CDC), and dbt.
  • Exposure to AI/RAG or agent-based architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Multi-Tenant Architecture: Own the tenant modeling strategy, governing organization structure, resource isolation (compute/IAM), and automated provisioning.
  • DevOps & Platform Engineering: Establish CI/CD standards, Cloud Run deployment automation, and release governance to ensure environment consistency.
  • Observability & Reliability: Design enterprise-wide logging, tracing, and SLO-driven alerting standards to ensure production systems are diagnosable at scale.
  • Data Foundations: Build multi-tenant data engineering frameworks using BigQuery, Cloud Composer/Airflow, and dbt (Medallion architecture).
  • Event-Driven Workloads: Define cloud patterns for high-throughput Pub/Sub architectures and secure data sharing across shared platform services.
  • Governance & Scale: Prevent platform fragmentation by establishing global standards for onboarding, security, and cost optimization.
  • Global Leadership: Direct a distributed team (including India-based GCC) to deliver architectural reviews and operational readiness across time zones.
