About The Position

Fidelity's Workplace Investing (WI) Digital Platforms Technology team designs, develops, implements, and supports an Enterprise suite of Digital applications. This role requires a blend of hands-on engineering and technical leadership across multiple teams. The team is passionate about delivering innovative solutions that exceed customer needs, embracing diversity of thought and experience, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and significant product advancement. This is a fast-paced technology group that adopts modern technologies to build powerful tools and deliver an outstanding end user experience. As a Director Level Software Engineer, you will craft, build, test & deliver the features that make up Fidelity’s digital experiences, and provide guidance and mentor developers within the wider digital platforms’ technology team. The team's goal is to build enterprise user experiences that delight customers, anticipate their needs, and match services or solutions to support effective decision making. You will be responsible for leading & directing the development of high performance, responsive user interfaces, thriving in a group that uses ground-breaking technologies to build powerful tools and outstanding user experiences.

Requirements

  • 8 + years hands on experience as a full stack software engineer
  • Modern expertise in programming languages and frameworks such as Java, Angular, Camel, and Spring
  • Skilled in all aspects of software development lifecycle
  • Expertise in designing, building, and supporting high transaction applications
  • Experience in building responsive front end applications using typescript, angular, or node
  • Skilled in building service-oriented applications using java, spring, and camel
  • Hands-on experience in continuous integration and delivery practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop technology associates
  • Robust critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Jenkins experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Craft, build, test & deliver the features that make up Fidelity’s digital experiences
  • Provide guidance and mentor developers within the wider digital platforms’ technology team
  • Lead & direct the development of high performance, responsive user interfaces
  • Define and execute on tech vision in consultation with architecture, engineering and product leadership
  • Facilitate the alignment of the product roadmap with tech driven initiatives
  • Bring tech vision to life; emphasize platform stability, engineering discipline, and build a plan to address end-of-life technologies
  • Mentor agile teams including developers, testers and analysts
  • Serve as a link between product and architecture
  • Create next-gen tech leads by investing significant efforts in coaching and mentoring associates
  • Serve as the authority on technical solutions and standards
  • Build expertise in Fidelity practices and continuously monitor industry advancements
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of engineering standards to ensure relevance and innovation
  • Work on strategic projects that span multiple business units and product teams
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership getting into the details and taking on development and guidance
  • Serve as the steward of tech vision, deliver on complex projects with a focus on incremental value delivery to achieve the tech vision
  • Provide technical leadership to multiple agile teams
  • Work across business units to develop an engaged engineering community
  • Maintain focus on strong engineering discipline
  • Serve as a developer advocate
