Only applicants who are permanent Civil Service Administrative Staff Analysts are eligible to apply to this JVN The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health and the environment by supplying clean drinking water, collecting and treating wastewater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP delivers more than 1.1 billion gallons per day of the highest quality drinking water to 8.5 million NYC residents and more than 1 million people in Upstate New York and has a wastewater conveyance and treatment system capable of processing over 1.3 billion gallons of wastewater per day to protect the environment and the city's surrounding waterways. DEP's Office of Fleet Services oversees the purchase, use, maintenance and management of DEP vehicles, special equipment and related services. Fleet Services also monitors compliance with NYC Fleet and Vision Zero mandates, fuel and E-Z Pass rules, parking and traffic regulations, and driver safety initiatives. The dynamic Fleet Services team provides complete life cycle management (design / build, distribution / maintenance, and relinquishment) of approximately 5,000 pieces of equipment throughout the five boroughs and NYC’s unique watershed. DEP is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Director of Fleet Services. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Fleet Services is charged with the oversight and planning for all Agency vehicles, trucks, and specialized motorized equipment. The selected candidate will manage the Office of Fleet Services, oversee the day-to-day operation of the agency’s fleet, enforce vehicle policies and procedures, and manage an operational budget of $7 million. Critically, the Director of Fleet Services is responsible for developing and executing a strategy to modernize DEP’s fleet to align with the agency’s core sustainability principles. Over the next decade, nearly every piece of equipment in DEP’s portfolio will be replaced; the Director of Fleet Services will ensure that new equipment meets our operational needs while also incorporating emerging technologies that reduce our carbon footprint. In addition, the Director of Fleet Services will be responsible for evaluating and inspecting new equipment, conducting needs assessment surveys, preparing specifications and reports.
