Overview The Director, Field Operations is a multi-region role that will lead up to 6 regions by modeling the values and supporting the culture of Planet Fitness. Key responsibilities include driving financial results, talent management, strategic leadership, operations management and promoting an exceptional member experience through impactful leadership. The ideal candidate should currently reside in Florida as this role will cover clubs in the Southeast US Region.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel approximately 100% of the time. Some evenings and weekends are required
  • Currently reside near a major airport
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field, preferred
  • 5-10 years of multi territory retail operations management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong business acumen with P&L responsibility; proven track record of success
  • Experience implementing continuous operational enhancements
  • Drives change initiatives with an aptitude to learn on the fly
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective time management through quarterly calendar planning that is inclusive of field visits and strategic planning opportunities with the Club Support Center network.
  • Build strong relationships across all functions within the Club Support Center to collaboratively leverage their support for the Corporate Clubs. Be the voice of the clubs.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with an engaging, motivational style that is centered on coaching and team building.
  • Adapt communication style to all levels within the organization. Be clear and concise.
  • Invest in your self-development through a structured development plan.
  • Be an effective role model of the Planet Fitness culture and core values: Integrity, Transparency, Passion, Respect, Excellence, While Having Fun.
  • Be an advocate for change initiatives to the field.

  • Identify leadership competency gaps and work collaboratively with Operations and HR on targeted training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with HR on a comprehensive talent management program that includes the identification of key talent, succession planning, and structured development plans that support career growth.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, coaching to the expectation and provide constructive feedback, inclusive of performance evaluations.
  • Conduct individual weekly calls with Regional Managers to support the business and promote their personal development.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Clubs leaders in developing and communicating a strategic vision that enhances Corporate Club priorities and supports company goals.
  • Drive financial results, region to region, using key performance indicators as a tool to optimize performance and profitability. Work closely with region/club leadership to develop business acumen.
  • Join forces with Marketing on plans to drive net member growth, including local marketing efforts.
  • Seek continual improvement of programs, policies and processes that impact the club.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Construction and Facilities on capital expenditures needed to uphold brand standards of excellence. Oversee EMS.
  • Inspire Regional Managers and Club Managers to be focused on optimizing day-to-day operations through their Team Members.
  • Be proficient in all operations procedures and PF programs; including ABC, FRM, JobVite, DataTrak, PFU and CPR.
