As Director of Field Engineering, you'll lead a team of Solution Architects who do one thing exceptionally well—show customers exactly how Matillion eliminates the data bottlenecks stalling their AI projects. We're talking 40 hours of data engineering collapsed into one hour. That's not marketing speak. That's what we deliver. Your job? Build a Field Engineering function that operates at speed, scales with our explosive growth trajectory, and turns technical conversations into commercial wins. You're not just translating features—you're translating business outcomes. You're showing the C-suite why data bottlenecks are killing their AI ROI, and how we fix it.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and scale a team of Solution Architects across North America Sales
  • Set standards, own performance reviews, and drive promotions and comp decisions
  • Create a culture of accountability, customer obsession, and high technical/commercial performance
  • Scale team capacity in lockstep with regional growth and Sales coverage needs
  • Partner with Sales leadership on go-to-market coverage, territory design, and resource allocation
  • Lead technical win strategies for strategic accounts and complex deals—early cycle engagement required
  • Drive technical qualification, discovery, solution design, and proof-of-value
  • Track and improve: win rate, sales cycle length, technical close rate, customer satisfaction
  • Define Matillion's technical narrative—AI/ML use cases, data transformation, and business outcomes
  • Ensure architects articulate how Matillion enables AI readiness, governance, and modern data architectures
  • Stay ahead on competitive landscape, cloud platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery), and AI tooling
  • Translate product roadmap into customer-facing value; influence product direction with field feedback
