About The Position

General Statement of Job Facilities Senior Leader and collaborates with the Senior Leadership team on strategic planning, goal setting, department evaluations, and the implementation of strategic initiatives for the respective departments. The position serves as a highly visible, energetic champion of safety, facilities maintenance, service, and regulatory compliance. The Manager plans, coordinates, organizes, and supervises all financial, technical, and administrative responsibilities for the respective departments. Manager serves as the designated Safety and, Emergency Coordinator as well as the assigned person to oversee ADA, AHCA, Federal and Joint Commission regulatory requirements. Leads the support service departments to achieve performance standards and meet the facility-wide needs. Collaborates with the hospital leadership in order to maintain programs which are effective, safe, and cost efficient. Job duties include supervision of the Safety and Emergency management and environment of care programs and as the Facility representative for all construction projects. The manager will represent the hospital and is instrumental in ensuring facility regulatory compliance with state, federal, and the Joint Commission regulations. Essential Functions: Provide for the day to day control for all activities in the plant operations and contracted services which include biomedical and lawn care. Evaluates preventative maintenance programs to ensure that proper procedures, frequencies, documentation, and quality levels are achieved. Assures that all equipment requirement preventative maintenance is included in the program. Prepares and maintains the department budget. Reviews and makes recommendations for capital budget equipment purchases that are installed in the hospital. Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, floor plans, and schedules as they relate to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC equipment, building structures and finishes. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all accrediting bodies, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Ensures continuous efficient and economical operation of the hospital's equipment, machines, plant and building, achieving set objectives within budgetary limits and in accordance with all regulatory licensing, codes and standards. Coordinates and supervises all construction, renovations, and expansion projects. Supervises the development and maintenance of the ICRA. Responsible for workforce planning and re-design, where appropriate. Develops and maintains the Environment of Care program which includes Safety Management, Security Management, Hazardous Materials Management Plan, Emergency Preparedness Plan, Life Safety Plan, Equipment Management Plan, and Utilities Plan. Coordinates and chairs the committee meetings, surveillance rounds, and reporting requirements to leadership and the Joint Commission. Serves on the Patient Safety and Quality Committee, Environment of Care Committee and others as assigned. Develops and maintains policies and procedures to meet current hospital policy, licensing requirements and Joint Commission standards. Coordinates with department leaders and medical staff to ensure that policies, procedures and standards are appropriate to meet the operational needs of the hospital. Develops and maintains a process for timely contract reviews, negotiations and renewals. Ensures contract timeframes are monitored to ensure appropriate management of contractual terms and conditions. Understands and adheres to all purchasing policies and procedures. Ensures continuous compliance with The Joint Commission, OSHA, AHCA, ADA, guidelines, and other applicable regulatory or accreditation standards. Supports and demonstrates practices consistent with the hospital’s mission, philosophy, standards, policies and procedures. Coordinates disaster response plans, readiness drills, training, and serves as the disaster coordinator during disaster events. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Hospital leadership experience greater than 10 years may replace educational requirements.
  • Specific knowledge and training in at least one facilities service, with additional general managerial training.
  • At least five (5) years experience in facilities operations or environmental services; along with two (2) or more years supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Joint Commission, and NFPA regulations and standards required.
  • Intermediate to advance IT skills and experience with relevant software systems such as Automated Building Maintenance Systems.
  • Reads and understanding blueprints, drawings, floor plans, and schedules as they relate to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC equipment, building structures and finishes.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver’s License with safe driver designation required.

Nice To Haves

  • Health services organization experience preferred.
  • Construction and emergency management experience beneficial.
  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager Certification and Certified Healthcare Engineer Certification preferred.
