Shift Days, Salaried Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 POSITION PURPOSE: Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Services Department ensuring that all cleaning duties and responsibilities are completed.

Requirements

Associate Degree required, Bachelors Degree preferred.
Management experience in the supervision of employees required.
Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite required.
Excellent organizational, written and oral skills required.

Responsibilities

Schedules employees and oversees employee workload to ensure all duties are completed.
Oversees and monitors the successful cleaning and disinfection of all areas of the hospital.
Oversees outside vendors responsible for cleaning at any off site or affiliated locations and monitors the proper completion of their work, including recycling efforts and document shredding with outside vendors.
Makes and follows through with appropriate management decisions and communicates the implementation with appropriate staff and shift coordinators.
Interviews and hires housekeeping employees in accordance with hospital policy.
Oversees the training and orientation of new employees.
Completes the annual performance appraisal and competency assessment for the environmental services staff.
Provides counseling/discipline as necessary completing appropriate documentation and informing/involving the reporting VP as needed.
Recommends product and purchasing decisions and keeps the reporting VP informed of modifications.
Participates in the Performance Improvement program and submits reports in a timely fashion.
Responsible for preparing, submitting and controlling the departmental budget through monitoring of monthly financial statements.
Serves on the Central Safety Committee as sub-committee chair for Hazardous Waste Management and Security.
Responsible for keeping CGHMC in compliance/informed of HazMat education and responsibilities as well as waste stream responsibilities under Illinois EPA and federal EPA guidelines.
