About The Position

The Director, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Operations serves as a key enterprise leader responsible for shaping, executing, and advancing the organization’s EHS operational objectives. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, EHS and Sustainability, this role provides oversight and hands‑on leadership for all functions within the EHS Operations organization. This position is remote-telework. This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of EHS programs, policies, procedures, and controls that enable safe, compliant, and high‑performance operations across the company. This position partners closely with EHS leadership and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment on operational priorities, delivery of standardized EHS services, and adoption of best‑in-class safety practices. A core responsibility of this position is driving consistency, effectiveness, and operational excellence in the company's EHS systems—ensuring programs remain scalable, compliant, and responsive to evolving regulatory, customer, and business requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • 10 – 14 years of related experience.
  • EHS Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications to support analytics, reporting and communications.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging SurveyMonkey or comparable tools for organizational assessments and safety culture insights.
  • Extensive experience with the Intelex EHS Management System or equivalent enterprise-level EHS platforms to manage compliance, risk, and performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001/14001 & quality and environmental management system requirements.
  • Travel 10 – 15 % per year (conduct program/project site visits, attendance at professional development seminars or training, or other travel as required.
  • US Citizenship required to apply.

  • Previous work experience in a Government Services company.
  • Active membership in recognized EHS professional organizations, such as the National Safety Council (NSC), American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), or American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership & Program Oversight Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, policies, procedures, and operational controls to ensure consistency, and compliance, across the company.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to site senior leadership and cross functional teams, providing expert guidance on EHS matters and strategic decision making.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Vice President, EHS and Sustainability, and broader EHS leadership to align operational objectives with corporate priorities.
  • Operational Excellence & Systems Management Ensure the effectiveness, scalability, and efficiency of EHS management systems, tools, processes, and reporting frameworks.
  • Promote and champion initiatives that elevate EHS performance and reduce operational risk.
  • Assist with the development of the organization’s EHS policies and procedures in compliance with corporate standards and federal, state, local, and contract requirements.
  • Cross Functional Integration Assist with the development of the organization’s EHS policies and procedures in compliance with corporate standards and federal, state, local, and contract requirements.
  • Capability Building & Training Assist with the development of comprehensive EHS training programs, competency models, and learning systems to strengthen organizational EHS capabilities.
  • Develop targeted EHS training for employees and managers to ensure consistent understanding and adoption of safety and environmental practices.
  • Compliance, Audits & Performance Monitoring Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and international regulations.
  • Collaborate with Business Group EHS VPs to support audits, assessments, inspections, and corrective action processes.
  • Assist with coordinating EHS assessments, surveys, and audits; compile findings and prepare recommendations to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in EHS assessments of Business Group programs and projects as required.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on key EHS performance metrics, including safety performance, injury/accident prevention, industrial hygiene, personal protection programs, training, awareness, asset protection, and EHS trend analysis.
  • Risk Management & Incident Response Identify, assess, and prioritize risks; develop mitigation strategies and plans to reduce or eliminate hazards across the enterprise.
  • Support incident management processes, including incident investigations, root cause analysis, emergency preparedness, and timely corrective action completion.
  • Ensure lessons learned are communicated and embedded into organizational practices.
  • Culture, Leadership & Team Development Promote a culture of safety, health, environmental responsibility, and operational stewardship, fostering high engagement and accountability at all organizational levels.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the EHS Operations team; provide coaching, performance management, and support to ensure technical excellence and high-quality service delivery.
  • Proficient in Power BI, including dashboard development, data visualization, and interpretation of complex EHS data sets.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to advise and present to EHS leadership and cross-functional teams.
