Position Overview Vantage Data Centers is looking for a Director, Environmental Health and Safety, Continuous Improvement and Integration, NA. In this executive leadership role, you will be responsible for setting the strategic vision and direction for the health and safety of our global data center operations. You will champion a proactive safety culture, ensure enterprise-wide compliance, and drive continuous improvement across all EHS domains. This role requires close collaboration with senior leaders across construction, operations, compliance, legal, HR, and security to embed safety into every aspect of our business. You will lead a high-performing team of EHS professionals, providing mentorship and strategic oversight to ensure consistent execution of safety programs. As Vantage continues to scale globally, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing risk mitigation strategies that align with our growth and innovation goals. This role demands a visionary leader with a strong focus on strategic execution, data-driven decision-making, and global harmonization of EHS practices. The role requires autonomy and oversight of processes including, but not limited to: Electrical Safety (Energized Electrical Work, Arc Flash) Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout) Occupational Noise Exposure & Control Heat Stress & Illness Prevention Exposure Assessment (Industrial Hygiene) Emergency Response Planning Working at Heights Confined Space Entry Heavy Material Handling Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts) Construction-Related Risks (Cranes/Rigging, Trenching/Shoring, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), etc.) Fire/Life Safety Hazardous Substances Handling Waste Management Ergonomics Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Risk Assessment and Mitigation methodology Incident management and Investigations This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; San Antonio, TX; Columbus; Ohio, Atlanta; Georgia; or Ashburn, VA in alignment with our flexible work policy (3 days onsite required, 2 days flexible).

Requirements

  • A Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related science/engineering discipline with coursework in risk management or safety is preferred, but not required.
  • A minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in EHS is required, including executive leadership roles with demonstrated success managing global risk portfolios and leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to drive cultural transformation, influence senior stakeholders, and implement innovative risk control strategies at scale.
  • Global experience and a deep understanding of international EHS regulations and standards are highly desirable.
  • Travel required is expected between 30%-50% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for global EHS programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety management systems, training, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead global audits and assessments to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide safety performance metrics and reporting systems.
  • Advise executive leadership on EHS risks, trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive integration of EHS into business continuity, emergency response, and operational planning.
  • Serve as the senior-most EHS authority, representing Vantage in regulatory, industry, and customer engagements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to address systemic risks and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Report to the VP or SVP of EHS and serve as the executive point of contact for global EHS strategy and execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of EHS professionals, ensuring consistency and excellence in program delivery.
  • Own the global EHS roadmap and lead the execution of strategic initiatives across all regions.
  • Oversee complex risk assessments and ensure implementation of enterprise-level mitigation strategies.
  • Lead global incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and systemic corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level training and communications to support EHS initiatives.
  • Monitor global regulatory landscapes and ensure proactive compliance strategies.
  • Synthesize global safety data and present actionable insights to the executive team and board-level stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with global leaders to implement scalable, harmonized EHS solutions across the portfolio.
  • Champion innovation in EHS technologies, analytics, and best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
  • Serve as the mandate owner ensuring all EHS improvements “land, stick, and improve outcomes” across construction and operations.
  • Manage the full backlog of global EHS improvements across: Standards changes System enhancements (Procore, Power BI, workflow updates) Program updates Regulatory or customer‑driven requirements
  • Drive a Stabilization Before Expansion approach, ensuring new processes and improvements are fully embedded before scaling.
