About The Position

Dell Medical School is seeking a Director for the Enterprise Project Management Office Purpose The Director of Program Management (Non-Technical) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for complex, cross-functional programs that advance the healthcare, academic, and research mission of Dell Medical School. This role partners with senior leaders across clinical, administrative, and academic domains to ensure the successful delivery of high-impact initiatives. The Director is responsible for developing and institutionalizing program management best practices, methodologies, and toolkits that drive consistency, accountability, and measurable value. This role fosters an environment of continuous improvement and ensures that all programs are aligned with organizational priorities, delivered on time and within budget, and positioned to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications, or related field.
  • 7 years of program or project management experience.
  • Experience in leadership or management role.
  • Higher education and/or academic medicine experience.
  • Fewer years of experience could be balanced by deep healthcare experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 10 years of program or project management experience.
  • 5 years in a healthcare setting or large matrixed organization.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Responsibilities

  • Leads Program Strategy, Execution, and Financial Oversight Defines program goals, scope, and success metrics aligned with organizational strategy. Oversees the execution of multiple interrelated projects under each program. Ensures integration across departments and functions. Manages program timelines, budgets, and deliverables, including financial forecasting and resource allocation. Ensures fiscal accountability and alignment with institutional financial policies and constraints. Adjusts program plans based on evolving priorities, risks, and financial performance.
  • Oversees Program Governance and Risk Management Establishes governance structures and escalation protocols. Identifies and mitigates program-level risks and dependencies. Ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Facilitates program steering committees and executive briefings. Maintains documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Manages Program Management Office (PMO) Staff Recruits, develops, and evaluates program and project managers. Aligns team structure and capacity with program portfolio needs. Promotes an environment of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Provides coaching and mentorship to emerging leaders. Oversees performance management and succession planning.
  • Drives Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Develops and executes communication strategies for program visibility. Facilitates alignment across executive sponsors and operational leaders. Resolves conflicts and ensures stakeholder buy-in. Leads cross-functional working groups and advisory councils.
  • Supports Organizational Change and Transformation Integrates change management into program planning and execution. Assesses organizational readiness and adoption. Partners with HR and Communications to develop training and support materials. Monitors post-implementation outcomes and feedback. Adjusts strategies based on lessons learned and stakeholder input.
  • Monitors Program Portfolio Performance Tracks KPIs and ROI across programs. Prepares executive dashboards and performance reports. Conducts program reviews and continuous improvement assessments. Recommends reprioritization based on strategic shifts. Ensures alignment with financial and operational constraints.
  • Participates in enterprise strategic planning and board-level presentations.
  • Leads special initiatives or crisis response programs.
  • Represents the organization at industry events and professional forums.
  • Supports grant applications and external funding proposals.
  • Conducts benchmarking and environmental scans.
