Nike is seeking a pragmatic, engineering-driven Director of Enterprise Architecture to lead and grow a high-impact team responsible for owning the big-picture technology blueprint across Nike's entire software ecosystem-including SaaS, custom-built, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), enterprise business applications, and foundational platforms. In today's rapidly evolving tech & business landscape, you will drive modernization and simplification efforts with urgency while maintaining a strategic vision. Your mission will be to connect and scale software solutions end-to-end by embedding Gen AI, data, cloud, privacy, and security principles by design. You will drive critical build vs. buy and open-source vs. vendor decisions to ensure technology investments deliver maximum value. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise or solution architecture roles, including 5+ years leading and managing architecture & engineering teams in dynamic, large-scale environments, preferably within retail, commerce, or consumer goods industries. Passion for mentoring technical talent and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Proven track record driving modernization projects that reduced costs, improved developer experience, or accelerated time-to-market.
  • Broad exposure to technology solutions and capabilities supporting commerce, retail, supply chain, manufacturing, product development, HR, finance, etc.
  • Deep technical expertise across application, data, software engineering and infrastructure domains with mastery of modern architecture frameworks and engineering best practices.
  • Proven expertise with cloud native development and designing hybrid multi-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML, data platforms, cloud-native technologies, software engineering tools & distributed system design to deliver measurable business impact.
  • Solid foundation in software engineering principles, application, data & integration architecture patterns, and distributed system designs.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across engineering teams and business stakeholders. Proven ability to influence diverse stakeholders, navigate matrix and drive consensus quickly.
  • Ability to see the "big picture" and align enterprise architecture with long-term business strategies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.
  • Experience architecting microservices, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), event-driven systems, and API governance with an outcome-focused mindset.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data quality, data governance, data privacy and analytics/reporting etc.
  • Experience transforming tech landscapes filled with SaaS, custom, COTS software, and enterprise business applications with focus on reuse, simplification, and cost efficiency.
  • Skills to develop and evangelize on reference architecture to help teams adopt Engineering Principles from the start (observability, security, availability, active/active, auto-scaling, self-healing, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise commercial software ecosystems (SAP, Manhattan WMS, O9, Order Management, Adobe etc,) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GenAI, AI, and Data/BI platforms such as Databricks, Tableau, Spark, Kafka is advantageous.
  • Experience with engineering stack for CI/CD, DevOps, DevSecOps, Containers, Runtimes, Observability, API development, microservices, UI/UX, programming languages etc.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of enterprise architects skilled in enterprise applications, cloud, AI, data, security, platform & infrastructure engineering to accelerate Nike's technology modernization and simplification initiatives.
  • Build and maintain 3-5 year end-to-end enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals, focusing on modernization, simplification, scalability, cost optimization, cloud, AI, data hubs, APIs, and platforms.
  • Architect practical, engineering-centric solutions such as microservices, event-driven systems, containerization, API-first designs, and AI-enabled platforms to build connected, reusable, secure, and scalable ecosystems.
  • Perform rigorous evaluation of build vs. buy and open-source vs. vendor software options, balancing technical fit, total cost of ownership, risk, and maintainability to optimize technology portfolios.
  • Embed privacy and security throughout all architectural designs, ensuring compliance with regulations and integrating advanced controls like encryption, authentication, threat modeling, and AI-enhanced defenses.
  • Build, maintain and leverage a comprehensive tech radar and architectural catalog covering SaaS, custom apps, COTS products, business capability maps and enterprise applications to reduce duplication and technical debt.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and innovation to build and scale AI capabilities, including platforms, tools, and talent development.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to engineers, business leaders, and executives-driving alignment, ownership, and timely decision-making.
