About The Position

As a Senior Enterprise Architect in Pfizer’s internal consultancy model, you will act as a strategic advisor and technical authority, shaping the architecture of business-critical platforms and solutions. You will partner with business and technology leaders to define, communicate, and implement architectures that drive business value, harmonize IT estates, and accelerate digital transformation. You will be recognized as a thought leader, influencing strategy, standards, and execution across the enterprise. This role reports to the Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture which is responsible for the Commercial group. Key accountabilities Develop and maintain architecture roadmaps aligned with business strategy and regulatory requirements. Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide solutions, ensuring interoperability, scalability, and compliance. Advise senior leadership on technology trends, risks, and opportunities, translating business needs into actionable architecture. Facilitate architecture governance, standards, and best practices across teams and projects. Mentor and guide solution architects, engineers, and business stakeholders. Quantify and communicate the business value of architectural decisions. Demonstrate business acumen and quantify the impact of architectural decisions. Foster innovation, continuous improvement, and change management in support of business outcomes. Collaborate with platform engineering, data & AI, and other horizontal teams to ensure cohesive delivery. Be the trusted voice for the enterprise as it relates to technical architecture - operate as a strategic advisor, not just a technologist. Mentor more junior colleagues and provide them with guidance and growth opportunities. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Service Delivery Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect. Directs and proposes Enterprise Architecture fit for new and existing technical components. Understands customers’ operational needs and helps to drive strategic direction. Anticipates internal/external business and regulatory/compliance issues that impact the system design. Strategy & Planning Leads proactive initiatives to drive Enterprise Architecture Strategy directly or at the direction of EA Leadership Develop business-driven vision and target state for architecture, with clear roadmaps for implementation. Architecture & Governance Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the targeted business outcomes. Accountable for the formulation of solution implementation approach, building consensus on approach, and providing technical execution oversight of such solutions. Influences management/senior staff decisions via focused innovation engineering exercises and proof-based experimentation. Knowledgeable about the regulatory constraints of leveraging cloud solutions in the healthcare industry with input from others. Understands modern cloud architecture best practices. Communication Is recognized as an Expert in their given domain area within an organizational unit. Develops and sustains constructive partnerships between business and technical stakeholders to ensure success of projects. Can write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles, at all levels of the organization; can get messages across that have the desired effect. Ensures effective, accurate and timely communication across the portfolio; prepares and delivers regular updates on project status, both in written and presentation format, to sponsors, business leaders and stakeholder groups. Innovation and Change Management Creates an environment where innovation is standard taking appropriate risks to advance innovative processes. Support change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption of new architectures. Financial Management Effectively manages project budget resources in alignment with product / program needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution and 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree plus 7+ years of experience or a PHD plus 5+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud solutions (i.e.: Amazon, Google, Microsoft Azure)
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate marketing material into actionable and understandable truth.
  • An “execution mindset” focused on getting things done quickly and simply.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more core platforms (Adobe AEM, Salesforce)
  • Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills.
  • Organizationally savvy, with situational and contextual intelligence of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate obstacles and politics.
  • Balances the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term implications of individual decisions and organization goals.
  • Estimates the financial impact of EA alternatives and applies multiple solutions to business problems.
  • Rapidly comprehends the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
  • Ready to think, behave and act in an innovative consulting manner to drive the organization’s digital business strategies.
  • Understands and speaks the language of the business.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Utilizes negotiation, facilitation, meeting management and conflict resolution skills to enhance cross-functional team performance.
  • Arbitrates disagreements among solution stakeholders and makes business decisions/proposals where needed.
  • Understands and communicates team roles/responsibilities and ensures all team members have access to project information necessary to be successful.
  • This position requires permanent work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of business domain expertise in one more research and /or product development areas in Life sciences or related industry
  • AWS /Azure cloud architect certification
  • Experience with multiple software delivery models
