About The Position

The Director, Divisional Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations and compliance of assigned operating companies and legal entities. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This leader will manage a team of accounting professionals, directing day-to-day activities, reviewing financial data, and ensuring accurate general ledger maintenance. This role also supports internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management efforts. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with extensive accounting and supervisory experience, who can effectively mentor their team and collaborate with senior leadership members to improve financial operations and decision-making for the business. This role is based in the Dallas, TX office that’s co-located with one of the Division’s headquarters (Statewide). This affords you the opportunity to learn the business, stay in tune with market level trends, develop relationships with key leaders and contributors across the operations. This role represents one of the most influential financial partnerships with the Divisional General Manager and their direct reports that oversee Sales, Operations, Marketing and Call Center Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required.
  • 10 years+ of accounting experience, with 5+ years in a supervisory role; audit experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other accounting software (Acumatica is Renuity’s ERP).
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Experience operating in a private equity portfolio company environment or equivalent fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Proven experience in managing financial risks and developing internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design and implement process improvements.
  • Experience working with senior leadership on strategic financial planning and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate transaction recording for general ledger maintenance.
  • Supervise, direct, and review the work of accounting staff in areas such as bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory and fixed asset activity.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, internal reports, and reports for external stakeholders.
  • Provide insights on working capital and cash flow drivers such as inventory turnover and DSO, while elevating risk areas around inventory obsolescence and bad debt exposure.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Assist with financial risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation, collaborating with leadership to strengthen governance and controls.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to produce variance analysis to Budget/Forecast and to provide insights into financial performance.
  • Develop and implement more efficient accounting procedures while maintaining high accuracy and compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries from senior leadership regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff, handling performance issues and managing professional development goals.
  • Support the FP&A in special projects and continuous process improvements.
