About The Position

The Director, Development will work with the Asst. Vice President of Development for the Miami Herbert Business School to develop and implement key fundraising strategies for the School’s top funding priorities with a focus on corporate giving. The Director, Development will have responsibility for the Corporate Associates Program, corporate conference sponsorships, as well as developing a robust individual major gift donor pipeline. Focus will also include fundraising projects and campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years of demonstrated successful experience in major gift fundraising or similar field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education/experience may be considered.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills are necessary along with the ability to be highly organized, creative, energetic, and assertive and exhibit the independent judgment and personal integrity necessary to carry out a senior management role in fundraising.
  • A teamwork-oriented approach to colleagues and proven ability to manage people in a positive and constructive environment are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors and funding sources (corporate and individual), in conjunction with faculty and staff.
  • Create and execute an engagement plan for corporate prospects and donors.
  • Develop and implement annual goals with measurable objectives and courses of action for all relevant activities during the years.
  • Maintain communications with colleagues in other schools and central DAR to ensure effective collaborations and synergy in achieving the university’s key fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Partner with University and Miami and Miami Herbert Executive Education and Career Advancement teams on corporate relationship building, events and solicitations.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Miami Herbert’s top fundraising priorities, both general and specific to various programs and departments.
  • Document all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in IBIS and other appropriate donor files.
  • Where appropriate and required, take on special projects as deemed necessary by the AVP.
  • Travel expectation: 30% - 50%; weekend and after work events as needed; attendance at corporate conferences and events
