The Director, DCS Systems Operations is a people manager position reporting to the Senior Director, DCS Data and Systems Operations. This role is responsible for leading and developing a team that supports all core DCS systems, ensuring their reliable and efficient operation in alignment with mission needs. The Director will ensure that DCS technology configurations and processes are effectively planned, managed, and optimized to support operational readiness, program effectiveness, and organizational objectives, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle to ensure systems effectively support all DCS mission functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • 5 years of management experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply technical expertise to resolve problems.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
  • Effective Management skills.
  • Ability to plan strategy and drive results.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the short and long-term business applications strategies applying technical expertise for specific business applications, technology, and software quality management.
  • Direct DCS technology best practices, techniques and methods.
  • Research, analyze and apply emerging trends to projects and operations.
  • Oversee system modification/change requests and releases ensuring changes meet DCS's technology needs.
  • Monitor and track business technology project portfolio including deliverables, timelines, and resources.
  • Monitor business application, performance metrics, capability and compliance to optimize operations and ensure systems support business needs.
  • Manage a team including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and managing performance.
  • Manage resource allocations and coordinate staff assignments.
  • Evaluate proposals, support BSI and HSIT with vendor relationships and the preparation of project estimates.
  • Partner with DCS stakeholders to develop a strategic plan to implement the technology vision.
  • Work closely with DCS stakeholders to analyze the current and future direction of technology to meet business goals.
  • Develop project/portfolio performance metrics to monitor business value over time.
  • Monitor in all phases of the solution lifecycle and work closely with DCS, BSI and HSIT stakeholders on DCS systems implementation.
  • Ensure a technical solution meets the requirements of DCS.
  • Facilitate problem resolution between IT and the business, as needed.
  • Represent, champion, and balance DCS interests with BSI and HSIT.
  • Steward of data decisions, literacy, and governance for Disaster Cycle Services.
