Walmart’s Next Gen Commerce team is reimagining the future of shopping by powering immersive, intelligent customer experiences. As Director of Data Science for Generative Media Intelligence & Experience Innovation, you will lead a high-impact team at the forefront of multimodal AI. You will lead the scientific strategy for how Walmart generates, understands, and personalizes rich media across images, video, 3D, and motion graphics. Your team will build models that operate at scale and deliver clear customer value. These models will enable: AI-generated product visuals, virtual spaces, and thematic content Augmented reality showrooms and real-time try-on experiences Shoppable media, including “shop-the-look” and “shop-the-video” features You will collaborate across product, engineering, design, and platform teams to ensure your models operate in real-world conditions at scale. You’ll assess build vs. buy tradeoffs, define hybrid architectures, and establish standards for performance, content quality, and customer relevance. This is a senior leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, cross-functional influence, and a bias toward fast, focused execution. You’ll shape one of the most strategic areas in retail innovation at the largest company in the world.
