About The Position

Rockefeller Center Destination & Experiences brings together everything that makes Rockefeller Center an iconic and essential part of New York City. For more than 90 years, Rockefeller Center has been a place where the city’s energy, creativity, and spirit come alive—offering world-famous attractions like Top of the Rock and The Rink, award-winning dining, legendary live entertainment, seasonal programming, and shopping for all ages. It’s also home to some of the city’s most sought-after event venues, from weddings at the Rainbow Room to rooftop gatherings overlooking Fifth Avenue. As part of the team, you’ll help shape unforgettable experiences at one of the most beloved destinations in the world—where locals and visitors come to connect, explore, and celebrate what makes New York, New York. Position Summary The Director of Data & Insights acts as the product owner for Rockefeller Center’s data and analytics ecosystem, accountable for defining the roadmap, prioritizing delivery, and ensuring analytics products are trusted, scalable, and decision-ready starting with the portfolio of owned and operated ticketed attractions (Top of the Rock, The Rink & Holidays, Tours & VIP Experiences). This role leads the transformation of how Rockefeller Center uses data to drive business performance—combining deep, hands-on analytics expertise with the execution of a multi-year strategic insights roadmap. The Director will design and maintain core data models, build and validate self-serve dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau), and serve as the critical link between business needs, financial modeling, and data infrastructure. Working closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Revenue Management, and Marketing (which together form a small cohesive leadership team driving the Destination & Experiences businesses), this role ensures KPI integrity, enables real-time decision-making, reduces reliance on manual reporting, and protects the long-term integrity of the new data warehouse as the business scales. This role maintains a dotted-line oversight of data engineers, and depending on experience, may directly manage business analysts. This role is designed for a technically strong analytics leader seeking broader business ownership, using data and analysis to influence strategy, execution, and financial outcomes. The Director operates as a core member of the Destination & Experiences leadership team and is expected to shape—not just report on—business decisions.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and/or strategic finance.
  • Strong understanding of data models, pipeline architecture, and analytics best practices, with a track record of preventing data integrity issues.
  • Experience directing or reviewing the work of Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Analysts and demonstrated experience owning analytics products end-to-end.
  • Expert fluency in SQL and hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Sigma, Looker).
  • Proven ability to operate at the intersection of business, data, and technology, including close partnership with Sales, Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
  • Comfort operating in fast-growing, ambiguous environments and building scalable processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Top-tier strategy or analytics consulting experience (e.g., BCG X/Gamma, McKinsey Analytics/QuantumBlack, Bain Vector/AAG), paired with a desire to move from advisory work into direct business ownership.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g. Ventrata), event management systems (e.g. TripleSeat), POS systems (e.g. Shopify), CRM platforms (e.g. HubSpot), ERP (e.g. D365), and accounting workflows.
  • Experience in sales and marketing analytics (e.g. GA4) and applied AI within the attractions, hospitality, or experiential industry.

Responsibilities

  • Data Modeling, Architecture & Integrity (Foundation) Own and design core analytical data models and business logic layer (e.g. Databricks) supporting revenue, NOI, pricing, demand, sales pipeline, ticketing, and guest experience. Partner with IT/Data Engineering to oversee data warehouse structure, pipelines, and integrations, ensuring new systems do not break downstream reporting—be the primary customer and hold Engineering accountable for reliability, but not own the technology infrastructure. Establish and enforce business-layer data governance, including KPI definitions, metric logic, reconciliation standards, and data quality controls. Serve as final owner of data integrity, preventing recurring break/fix cycles and reducing manual cleanup.
  • Dashboarding & Performance Reporting (Execution) Data : Direct the building and maintenance of trusted, self-serve dashboards (e.g., Tableau) for executives and operators. Personally engage with data models, pipelines, and analytics outputs, as needed, not just manage requirements. Ensure reporting is accurate, automated, and timely, with clear documentation, refresh cadence, and alignment with Accounting. Insights : Deliver scalable reporting for forecasting, pipeline tracking, demand pacing, pricing, and sales & marketing performance. Replace spreadsheet-based and ad hoc reporting with durable analytics products.
  • Data & Analytics Products Roadmap (Strategy) Data : Translate strategic and operational questions into data products, KPIs, and analytical frameworks. Insights : Execute the business insights roadmap across Rockefeller Center’s non-leasing revenue lines. Prioritize analytics work based on business impact and balance near-term needs with long-term platform stability. Recommend how AI and other new technologies should be applied to evolve reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Enablement Data : Act as the single accountable owner for analytics products—from concept through adoption—ensuring delivery meets business needs and technical standards. Ensure operational metrics roll cleanly into financial reporting, forecasting, and performance reviews, improving efficiency and accuracy. Insights : Serve as the primary insights partner to leadership across each of Rockefeller Center’s Destination & Experiences businesses starting with Attractions, but moving into Hospitality and Partnerships over time. Drive adoption of insights and tools by embedding analytics into day-to-day decision-making.
  • Team, Process & Tooling Data : Directly manage and/or maintain dotted-line oversight of data engineers, BI developers, analysts, and contractors, ensuring clear technical standards, documentation, priorities, delivery discipline, accountability and ongoing maintenance. Recommend evolution of cross-functional team structure/staffing to best support the needs of business. Insights : Over time, expand the role from technical ownership into broader business leadership, including increased responsibility for strategic planning, performance management, and team development to enhance the analytics function.
