About The Position

As the Director of Customer Marketing at Buildertrend, you’ll shape how our customers experience our platform from their first login through long-term growth. Your work will guide builders from onboarding to advocacy, ensuring every interaction feels clear, valuable, and connected. By creating strategies that drive adoption, retention, and expansion, you’ll help contractors save time, reduce delays, and grow their businesses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in customer marketing, lifecycle/retention marketing, or related roles within a B2B SaaS environment is required.
  • 4+ years of management/leadership experience managing and developing high performing teams.
  • Proven experience developing customer lifecycle marketing programs.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS customer journey and lifecycle metrics.
  • Expertise in segmentation, automation, CRM systems, and lifecycle measurement frameworks.
  • Ability to create cross-functional alignment across Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to create clarity, alignment, and momentum across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the customer lifecycle strategy from onboarding through retention, and advocacy.
  • Create a unified framework for lifecycle communications across email, in-app messages, product updates, and other touchpoints.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Services to align goals and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate customer communications to ensure clarity, timing, and consistency.
  • Use customer insights and usage data to identify opportunities and guide decisions.
  • Lead customer education programs that increase adoption and help users get more value from the platform.
  • Oversee execution of customer-facing campaigns including newsletters, nurture flows, and webinars.
  • Collaborate with customer events and partnerships to define program outcomes and drive customer engagement across these channels.
  • Develop scalable expansion workflows, campaigns and messaging for upsell and cross-sell opportunities that drive demand for our Accounts Payable and Professional Services offerings in partnership with Customer Success and Customer Growth teams.
  • Align Customer Marketing outcomes to shared company KPIs across retention, adoption, NPS, and expansion revenue.
  • Partner with Marketing and Revenue to implement the tooling, segmentation, and automation needed for personalized lifecycle marketing.
