Requirements

  • 5-7 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Healthcare/Medical - Healthcare Administration
  • EDUCATION REQUIRED A Bachelor's degree (e. g., BA, BS, BSN, BSW). or 5-7 years experience in lieu of degree
  • Proven supervisory ability
  • Knowledge of healthcare
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • EDUCATION PREFERRED Masters.
  • CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE PREFERRED CPCS Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees others. Supervises Coordinators
  • Manages credentialing processes at main campus and regional sites.
  • Oversees all aspects of credentialing of HSS Medical Staff, Allied Health Professional Staff and Graduate Medical Education Staff, for initial and reappointments, as required by TJC, NYS DOH, NCQA, ACGME and HSS Medical Board as applicable.
  • Manages operations. Oversees operations of the credentialing office and assumes departmental leadership, as needed.
  • Meets with Faculty to review new Program requests and Delineation of Privileges.
  • Helps staff grow in areas such as primary-source verification, payer enrollment, or data integrity.
  • Sets measurable KPIs for turnaround times, accuracy, productivity, and compliance
  • Manages capacity during peak volumes, reappointments, and onboarding cycles.
  • Acts as liaison between graduate medical trainees, external GME Offices and Departmental offices, and HSS Medical Staff Office, Legal Affairs Department and OHS to assure completed applications.
  • Ensures that the Department maintains a database on credentialing information along with a hard copy of each trainee file.
  • Generates relevant database reports, including but not limited to; monthly report of appointments for the Credential Committee, Medical Board and Board of Trustees.
  • Maintains accurate and timely malpractice histories by coordinating information obtained from physicians, NPDB, malpractice insurance carriers and affiliated healthcare facilities, within the guidelines of NYS law 2805K.
  • Guides staff through internal/external audits and provides coaching based on findings.
  • Participates in Education Institute projects and activities.
  • Communicates in an organized, illustrative and courteous manner, both verbally and in writing, with physicians and coworkers.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
