About The Position

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP’s millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies. The Director, Creative Services leads the creative services function within the organization to design, develop and produce creative and content-based advertising solutions to run in AARP's media channels that meet client needs, support revenue goals, and drive measurable ROI for advertisers. The Director partners with operations and development teams to determine requirements and oversees the development of production plans, schedules, and budgets. The Director ensures that all production projects align with the organization’s business strategies and initiatives. In collaboration with senior management, the Director develops strategic creative tools and best practices designed to maximize advertiser performance through our media channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (BA/BS).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing a creative services team within the advertising sales function of a media company, preferably one that supports creative and content-driven advertising.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing creative team, including setting priorities, providing feedback, and fostering professional development.
  • Strong design background, with experience in both print and digital formats and a demonstrated emphasis on digital design.
  • Working knowledge of digital advertising - various product offerings and how they work - and the ability to translate ad performance into actionable insights and creative optimization recommendations
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute high-level insights to the management team in support of driving advertising revenue.
  • Visionary leader with proven experience developing and guiding branding initiatives and marketing collateral.
  • Experience leading content marketing strategy and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and publishes compelling, valuable ad creative and/or content to engage consumers on behalf of the advertiser.
  • Directs team of staff and consultants on ad creative and custom content projects for clients, including project management, budgets, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Uses marketing strategies and multimedia channels to achieve sales and client KPIs.
  • Manages vendors and creative resources to achieve team objectives and support revenue.
  • Collaborates with AMS management on sales and marketing strategies to drive new and incremental business.
  • Directs the production of sales and marketing materials, including all content on internal Extranet.
