About The Position

The Director of Center for Continuing and Professional Education provides leadership and oversight for non-credit and community-based learning programs. Reporting directly to the Dean of Global and Community Engagement, the Director oversees initiatives designed to meet the needs of campus and community-based learners. Center for Continuing and Professional Education programs include career advancement opportunities, workplace fundamentals, MyCAA (Military Spouse Career Advancement), CPR training, the AP Summer Institute, and Dusty’s Junior University.

Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in education, management, business administration or related field.
  • Experience – Ten years administrative experience coordinating continuing/lifelong education programs, summer camps, conferences or other related campus and community-based education programs.
  • Supervisory experience - Minimum of three years related supervisory experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of: Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Effective leadership, management and supervisory skills
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with the University community and general public.
  • Plan and organize work and manage multiple tasks.
  • Perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Licensing / Professional Certification – None.
  • Physical Requirements – General Office Environment.
  • Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, administer, and oversee all activities related to Continuing and Professional Education.
  • Manage a portfolio of programs that meet campus and local community needs.
  • Schedule activities and courses.
  • Process documentation for training and supervise work and/or work schedules of staff, third-party vendors, and student workers.
  • Oversee preparations for all documentation necessary for summer camps and other activities/courses administered by Continuing and Professional Education.
  • Oversee the coordination of training for existing programs.
  • Expand Continuing and Professional Education program portfolio.
  • Coordinate efforts with community members, faculty, staff, and other personnel.
  • Innovate programs, processes, and services to meet evolving community and institutional priorities.
  • Oversee the program budget.
  • Prepare documentation for all Continuing and Professional Education courses including assessment of each program
  • Provide timely reports as needed.
  • Accurately complete payment transactions.
  • Receive cash, checks, or credit cards for the payment of bills, purchases, services, or admission to events.
  • Balance payments against receipts.
  • Prepare deposits, as needed and when directed.
  • Prepare and reconcile daily sales/payment received reports
  • Develop necessary program improvements based on assessment results.
  • Seek external funding to support program expansion.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of printed and visual materials for Continuing and Professional Education such as forms, correspondence, flyers, brochures, web pages, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Represent the Continuing and Professional Education division and/or Dean at events, meetings, and committees, ensuring effective and timely communication internally and externally.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Dean.
