The Opportunity: HKA is seeking a Director-level Consultant with deep, hands-on construction experience and strong analytical capabilities to support our Construction Claims & Disputes Consulting practice. In addition to rigorous schedule and delay analysis (Primavera P6), you will lead standard of care evaluations grounded in real-world construction management, field practices, and project execution. You’ll build and sustain senior client relationships, deliver technically sound analyses, and elevate HKA’s market presence through visible thought leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a STEM field
  • 8+ years in Construction and Consulting, with experience resolving complex projects and managing multiple deliverables
  • 1+ years experience drafting Expert Reports for litigation purposes; Expert Testimony experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation such as contracts, RFIs, submittals, and schedules
  • Expert in forensic scheduling using Primavera P6, including delay and impact analysis
  • Skilled in advanced Excel for large-data analysis and producing client-ready visuals and reports
  • Experienced in building senior client relationships and crafting well-scoped proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assure quality of schedule analyses (baseline, updates, as‑built) and delay/impact assessments in Primavera P6.
  • Lead standard of care assessments by evaluating construction means and methods, site management, project controls, field decision-making, and adherence to industry norms and contractual obligations.
  • Direct organization and examination of project records, including field reports, RFIs, submittals, daily logs, change documentation, cost/labor data, and correspondence.
  • Diagnose causation by comparing expected construction practices to actual performance and identifying deviations contributing to defects, delays, or disputes.
  • Lead Expert Reporting; act as or prepare for expert testimony, including report drafting and dispute‑resolution documentation.
  • Translate technical findings into clear, defensible conclusions for clients, counsel, and tribunals.
  • Ensure methodological rigor, consistency, and clear communication across all deliverables.
  • Lead delivery of multiple complex projects, managing scope, resources, budgets, and efficiency.
  • Manage Risk: identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks; recommend practical technical and managerial solutions.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships; anticipate client needs and resolve complex issues with tact.
  • Mentor and develop teams, foster a feedback culture, and represent HKA through thought leadership and industry engagement.
