Job Summary The Director, Computational Governance is responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling Genmab’s Enterprise Data Governance program through platform-native, automated, and measurable controls, with Unity Catalog serving as the backbone for access control, lineage, classification, auditability, and governance metrics. This role owns the translation of governance and regulatory intent into enforceable technical capabilities embedded within Genmab’s cloud lakehouse architecture. Rather than creating policy frameworks or manual processes, this role builds and operates computational governance using Unity Catalog, policy-as-code, and automation. The role provides enterprise-level stewardship of data governance and master data practices, ensuring that governance scales consistently across domains while enabling Data Product Leads to own delivery, adoption, and value realization within their domains. Work arrangement: This role offers flexibility to work away from the office for 20%–40% of a typical schedule. Employees may use this work schedule in increments of single days or multiple consecutive days, provided it does not exceed 40% within a 60-day period, and is approved by the hiring manager.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data platforms, data governance, data engineering, MDM, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Hands-on experience implementing governance and MDM through modern cloud data platforms.
  • Proven ability to translate policy and master data intent into enforceable technical controls.
  • Experience coordinating federated MDM implementations across multiple business domains.
  • Experience leading enablement efforts for data stewards or similar federated governance communities.
  • Experience scaling governance without large centralized teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for access control, lineage, classification, and auditability.
  • Experience overseeing or implementing Master Data Management (MDM) solutions and matching strategies in complex enterprises.
  • Experience designing or operating data ingestion, observability, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience partnering effectively with Data Product Leads and business data stewards.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments such as biotech, pharma, or healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Governance Implementation Own the implementation of Genmab’s computational governance model, translating policy intent into standardized, automated, and auditable controls.
  • Implement governance across access control, data classification, lineage, retention, and data quality enforcement using platform-native capabilities.
  • Ensure governance is embedded in data platforms rather than implemented through manual processes or centralized approvals.
  • Platform & Technical Leadership Serve as the technical authority for enterprise data governance within the lakehouse architecture, with deep hands-on understanding of Databricks Unity Catalog.
  • Design and standardize governance patterns leveraging Unity Catalog for centralized access control, classification, lineage, and auditability.
  • Partner with the Data Platform team to evolve Unity Catalog–based governance capabilities aligned to enterprise strategy and regulatory expectations.
  • Implement governance using native platform features wherever possible, minimizing bespoke or manual solutions.
  • Enterprise Data Management & MDM Oversight Provide enterprise-level oversight of Master Data Management (MDM) practices across domains, ensuring consistency, alignment, and interoperability of mastering approaches while respecting domain ownership.
  • Coordinate with Data Product Leads responsible for domain MDM implementations (e.g., Site, Vendor, Product mastering) to align matching rules, survivorship logic, identifiers, and reference data standards.
  • Establish enterprise principles and guardrails for master data, including golden record concepts, cross-domain identifiers, and integration patterns.
  • Partner with platform teams to ensure master data outputs are governed through Unity Catalog, including lineage, access control, and auditability.
  • Governance Metrics & Transparency Define and own enterprise data governance metrics, including coverage, effectiveness, and exception trends.
  • Ensure governance metrics are system-generated and used to drive continuous improvement across domains.
  • Stewardship Enablement & Community Leadership Lead, enable, and educate the community of business data stewards across Genmab on best practices associated with the computational governance strategy.
  • Establish clear guidance, playbooks, and enablement materials for stewards on how to appropriately use and audit role-based access control (RBAC), onboard new data assets, and apply governance standards during ingestion.
  • Partner with Data Platform and Data Product teams to ensure stewards understand and can effectively leverage enterprise onboarding, ingestion, observability, export and data quality frameworks.
  • Promote consistent stewardship practices across domains, ensuring governance intent is applied uniformly without creating manual review bottlenecks.
  • Federated Governance Enablement Partner with Data Product Delivery teams to translate enterprise standards into enforceable controls.
  • Provide guidance and guardrails to ensure governance patterns are consistently applied across domains without centralizing delivery responsibility.
  • Privacy, Security & Audit Partnership Partner with Global Data Privacy Office to operationalize regulatory and data protection intent through technical controls.
  • Work with Information Security to align governance with security requirements.
  • Support audits by providing system-generated evidence of governance enforcement and master data controls.
  • Innovation & Automation Lead innovation using automation and machine learning to scale metadata capture, classification, and governance coverage.
  • Continuously evaluate new platform capabilities to reduce manual governance effort.
