The Director, Commissioning is a senior leadership role responsible for leading commissioning execution for projects delivered by the MPW‑NGS Projects team. This position bridges technical execution readiness, organizational change, and long‑term operational outcomes by owning commissioning processes, training, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role reports to the Senior Director of PMO & Commissioning and works independently to achieve strategic business objectives while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient project commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in construction, engineering, or commissioning; EPC power project experience required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of direct management experience in commissioning or engineering.
  • Experience developing project drawings, procedures, test plans, and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and supervisory capabilities.
  • Capability to lead global teams and operate in international project environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to interpret complex technical information.
  • Strong communication skills including executive‑level reporting and presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and collaboration systems.
  • Comfort working with IT developers to implement reporting, tracking, and site history systems.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% and maintain a valid passport and driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee site safety plans, training, tracking, and reporting to maintain a Zero‑Incident safety record.
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates for commissioning‑related proposals and consortium agreements.
  • Forecast, schedule, and allocate commissioning resources and site staffing.
  • Oversee site operations delivering Technical Field Advisory (TFA) services for commissioning, start‑up, testing, and operations.
  • Integrate site staffing plans with supporting factories to ensure qualified and competent TFAs meet project requirements.
  • Develop and manage multi‑year commissioning budgets while optimizing cost efficiency and margins.
  • Own development, management, and reporting of site start‑up and commissioning procedures.
  • Develop contract compliance test plans and transition projects from commissioning to commercial operation.
  • Oversee engineering investigations, root cause analysis, non‑conformances, corrective actions, and warranty claims.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and reduce commissioning duration.
  • Build, mentor, and manage commissioning personnel including hiring, performance management, and development.
  • Support product line managers with commissioning‑related equipment improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all commissioning activities.
  • Define and lead transformation roadmaps for commissioning execution processes.
  • Establish success metrics with Project Operations and Execution leadership.
  • Control work intake, prioritization, and resource allocation to avoid execution bottlenecks.
  • Serve as change‑management controller ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor progress using dashboards and report benefits and ROI to leadership.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and resolve obstacles impacting commissioning continuity.
  • Serve as primary commissioning contact for commercial contract and DOR reviews.
  • Guide configuration control for commissioning‑related SOPs released to the business.
