About The Position

The Director of Commercial and Market Access Planning will play a strategic leadership role in shaping the commercial success of Monte Rosa’s emerging pipeline. This individual will direct global commercial assessments, forecast development, and go-to-market planning for new therapeutic candidates. A critical component of this role involves driving early market access strategy to ensure optimal pricing and reimbursement potential. The individual should have deep expertise in market analysis, forecasting, global pricing and market access, and cross-functional collaboration to inform investment decisions and help guide clinical and commercial planning.

Requirements

  • BS with 14+ years of working experience, MS with 12+ years of experience, or Doctorate Degree with 9+ years of experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial planning, new product planning, or related strategic roles within biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies and consulting.
  • Strong preference for candidates that have led commercial planning for Phase 2 and 3 programs at a biopharmaceutical company (or companies).
  • Proven track record directing and implementing market research programs for early- and late-stage assets.
  • Hands-on experience designing and executing market research (not just managing vendors) and translating insights into actionable strategy.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing detailed financial forecasts and market opportunity assessments.
  • Proven ability to build complex, patient-based revenue forecast models from scratch in Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of payer landscape, policy trends, and pricing frameworks
  • Deep understanding of syndicated data sets from IQVIA and other vendors
  • Deep experience developing and pressure-testing Target Product Profiles (TPPs), translating market insights into product requirements
  • Demonstrated experience developing global pricing strategies, payer value propositions, and reimbursement roadmaps for pipeline assets.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with AI tools for market analysis, competitive intelligence, and workflow efficiency
  • Therapeutic Area: Experience in immunology, oncology and cardiovascular diseases is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, PhD, MD, PharmD, or MPH strongly preferred.
  • Additional experience at a consulting firm specializing in life sciences strategy, forecasting, or market analytics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct commercial planning for pipeline assets, with a focus on our clinical-stage programs.
  • Design, direct, and implement global primary and secondary market research plans (qualitative and quantitative) to uncover stakeholder insights (physicians, patients, payers) to inform target product profiles, positioning, and forecasting assumptions.
  • Develop detailed product revenue forecasts using robust methodologies and scenario modeling, assessing market opportunities, competitive dynamics, and patient populations.
  • Develop early global pricing and market access strategies to inform target product profiles (TPP), ensuring clinical trial endpoints support future payer value propositions.
  • Lead payer landscape assessments across key markets (US, EU5, Asia) to identify reimbursement hurdles, evidence gaps, and pricing sensitivity.
  • Monitor the evolving policy landscape (e.g., Inflation Reduction Act, HTA reforms) to anticipate risks to pricing and access, adjusting commercial strategies accordingly.
  • Define value drivers and evidence generation plans that resonate with payers and health technology assessment (HTA) bodies.
  • Support launch readiness assessment and planning
  • Partner with R&D, clinical, regulatory, business development, and finance teams to integrate commercial perspectives into pipeline strategy.
  • Translate complex market insights into clear strategic recommendations for executive leadership; present strategic recommendations and forecasts to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and analytics tools to streamline research, forecasting, and data synthesis.
  • Support business development activities through assessment of in-licensing and partnership opportunities.
  • Manage external vendors, consultants, and research partners as needed.
