About The Position

Core Foodservice in convenience stores is a crucial growth driver, significantly boosting profitability and customer loyalty by meeting the rising demand for quick, high-quality food and drink options. Core-Mark’s innovative core foodservice offering sets our customers apart in a competitive market. As Director of Category Management, you will oversee Core-Mark’s core foodservice strategy and execution, providing Core-Mark and our customers an important component of our collective growth story. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Foodservice, you drive growth in our core Foodservice category, overseeing vendor relationships, developing vendor strategies, and negotiating national agreements. This role is on-site at the corporate office in Westlake, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Seven (7) years of Foodservice Category Management in the Convenience Channel
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask and direct multiple projects
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Ability to create and influence groups outside of their immediate environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Core Foodservice categories, which include Coffee, Dispensed Beverages, Perishable Grocery, Frozen and Perishable Packaged Sandwiches, Dairy, Grab-and-Go/Heat-and-Eat Food and Store Supplies.
  • Proactively develop and present compelling strategies and tactics that drive Core Foodservice category sales and grow share by utilizing fact-based insights with internal and external partners.
  • Work closely with vendors to analyze data and extract meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Develop, review, and update corporate schematic programs for all assigned categories in collaboration with the Category Management Space Planning team.
  • Negotiation of annual vendor agreements which optimizes business for Core-Mark and our customers.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of vendor earned income vs annual plan and take actions required to meet or exceed plan.
  • Collaborate across the company to drive business goals and increase same store sales and new store conversion (working with Corporate Marketing, Corporate Sales, and three Regions)
  • Engage with customers on opportunities to profitably grow center of store categories.
  • Represent Core-Mark at trade shows, industry forums and within the vendor community.
  • Provide productive leadership and mentorship to direct reports
  • 20% Travel
