General Purpose of Job: Provide administrative oversight for all services within the UMH-Sparrow Oncology Services. UMH-Sparrow Oncology Services is defined as Medical Oncology and Infusion Services at the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center (HHCC) and all Community Hospitals (Eaton, Ionia, Clinton, & Carson), Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics, Clinical Trials, and Cancer Center administrative services at the HHCC (including, multidisciplinary clinics, social work, support groups, genetic counselling, multidisciplinary clinics, nutritional services, and high-risk cancer clinic). Basic Function and Responsibilities The Director – Cancer Services Coordinates all aspects of the delivery of services and supervision of management personnel within UMH-Sparrow Oncology Services. Dyad relationship with the Medical Director, Cancer Center. Under direction of Market Director Operations (MDO) the Director may also partner with the Market Medical Director (MMD) and Market APP Lead (MAL) as needed on clinical matters. Maintain a consistent and productive culture across responsible departments that prioritizes collaboration, respect and accountability. Collaborate with Michigan Medicine (MM) and University of Michigan Medicine Medical Group (UMMG) operations leaders and academic clinical department administrators to implement strategic alignment and best practices across cancer service operations. Evaluate opportunities for clinical integration and patient centeredness consistent with the mission, vision, values and goals of the health system. Identifies and develops new business opportunities and cancer services’ marketing strategies. Support identification and implementation of strategies for responsible departments’ services quality, growth, and expansion. Oversees and coordinates Commission on Cancer committee activities and meetings; participates in State and Regional Cancer Consortium Meetings and other committee meetings as appropriate. Responsible for achieving responsible departments’ annual operating budgets and performance measure expectations associated with the ambulatory clinic operations. Support the MDO to identify scope location and service expansion opportunities, contribute to feasibility planning, and lead implementation of approved plans. Support operational implementation of UM-H Corp and Michigan Medicine patient quality and safety programs, compliance programs, population health programs, and other initiatives that impact clinical operations. Enhance employee engagement and fosters a culture of collaboration and enthusiasm, with commitment to patient-centered, top-of-license, team-based care. Embraces the importance of system collaboration and works effectively with Regional Medical Group (RMG) departments, UM-H Corp Hospital Leaders, Department Administrators, colleagues and senior management to achieve system goals. Organizational Scope The Director – Cancer Services is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of ambulatory clinics and ancillary facilities associated with the Sparrow Cancer Center operations. This entails supervising direct report management personnel and collaborating closely with all other RMG management functions and centralized corporate functions supporting the RMG.
