About The Position

Director, Business Strategy Position Summary The Director, Business Strategy will collaborate closely with PCH Business Development (BD) and Marketing to design and implement strategies that drive growth and market expansion for PCH’s early-phase small-molecule offerings and sites. This role will also partner with PCH BD leadership to provide strategic feedback and enhance the early-phase sales process. By supporting BD Specialists and regional BD teams, the Director, Business Strategy will help ensure a focused approach to acquiring new customers and new molecules, ultimately accelerating growth and strengthening Catalent’s position in early-phase development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial operations within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or CDMO industry, with a focus on small molecule drug development.
  • Strong understanding of early-phase drug development and manufacturing services.
  • Proven track record in new client acquisition, targeting, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel to major biotech markets and industry events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with BD, Marketing, Inside Sales, Scientific Advisory, Commercial Operations, and the early phase site teams on lead generation, relationship building, and customer introductions.
  • Actively engage with BD, Marketing, and Scientific Advisory to evaluate external networking events and determine the most relevant opportunities for participation or delegation, ensuring alignment with ROI and efficient use of time.
  • Partner with Marketing to organize Catalent-sponsored local events featuring scientific content targeted at major biopharma hubs (San Diego, San Francisco, and Boston/Cambridge), along with additional biotech networking opportunities, to enhance market presence beyond current efforts, with a strong emphasis on customer outreach and customer attendance.
  • Develop and utilize data analytics to evaluate market trends, analyze competitive positioning, and identify customer requirements for early-stage small molecule programs and priority therapeutic areas
  • Provide support in customer and molecule targeting.
  • Utilize AI and innovative methods to facilitate prospecting for new molecules and customers, including leveraging CMC consultant networks.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with early phase site leadership teams to ensure a consistent and positive customer experience at all facilities.
  • Work to align and harmonize the customer experience across the broader PCH network in order to encourage repeat business and secure non-competitive RFPs.
