About The Position

The Director, Business Development is an experienced sales/business development professional with a proven track record of leading business development activities in the pharmaceutical CDMO industry from prospecting, qualifying, and closing new client development programs and commercial supply contracts. The position is responsible for identifying potential customers, building relationships with key decision makers, securing RFP/RFQs, negotiating pricing/business terms, and closing deals for our contract development and manufacturing businesses including the two Halo Pharma sites and Woodstock Sterile Solutions (sister company to Halo) site. This position is expected to drive significant growth for Halo Pharma and Woodstock Sterile Solutions while building our brands in the CDMO marketplace.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel globally up to approximately 50% of your time, depending on territory and business needs, to visit clients, the sites, and tradeshows.

  • Have relevant industry knowledge of drug product development and manufacturing.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills; ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers and internal team members and management.
  • Have the ability to work in a team environment and build strong internal relationships.
  • Have the proven ability to organize and plan work and balance multiple priorities effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Have the ability to interact effectively with scientists and technical staff from customers and from the Halo and Woodstock organizations.
  • Possess strong computer skills, including Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak clear English.
  • Sit and work with computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Read written documents and use computer monitor screen frequently.

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business administration or other related field.
  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical CDMO sales or Business Development.
  • Proficient in executing defined territory development plans and complex project closing processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or Master of Business Administration / commercially orientated degree is advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug development lifecycle is a plus
  • Understanding of sterile manufacturing and blow/fill/seal manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a detailed sales territory plan to identify, qualify, pursue, build relationships with and close new development and commercial opportunities within an assigned region to achieve assigned revenue, bookings and growth objectives.
  • Work with legal to negotiate and execute complex development and supply agreements.
  • Present Halo and Woodstock development and manufacturing capabilities including Blow/Fill/Seal, Sterile Vial/PFS/Cartridge, Oral Dosage, Oral Liquids, Semi-Solids and Suppository knowledgeably and effectively with customers and create specific targeted solutions that meet customers’ manufacturing and development needs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, request for technical information, customer meetings requests, RFI/RFP/RFQ documents with support from technical, quality and proposal preparation teams.
  • Provide business and overall relationship management support to existing development and commercial programs. Responsibilities may include negotiation of new development and commercial supply proposals, support on business/commercial issues and collaborating with R&D to structure proposals as programs move through various stages of development through to commercialization.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting processes and tools, and maintain open communication throughout the organization, especially regarding cross-site and cross-function customer efforts.
  • Perform any other objectives as agreed to with the VP, Business Development to help drive growth for our Halo and Woodstock businesses.
  • Participate in regional, national and global industry events to help advance our customer objectives and generate new leads.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and CRM discipline; maintain transparent communication across sites and functions regarding customer activities
  • Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
